Low Cost Alternatives to the GP New Decade MC?

so, i have the NDMC and i love them, but really, its just rubber, are there any other companies making knock-offs that perform well and are cheaper?

thoughts?

check ebay for sharpro. they are less than half the price. and i'm pretty sure GP stole the design from them.

Yeah, basically. GD pays Sharpro royalties for the NDMC because it's Sharpro's design.

huh, no kidding?  thats interesting.  so are they as good as the GP ones?  and are they only available on ebay?

I've never actually bought and used them so I don't know how good they are (the Golf Price ones could be more durable, better feeling, etc. I don't really know), but I have seen them in a few (mostly smaller, non-chain) stores. The last time was a few years ago, but I do remember them being a good deal rougher than the Golf Pride versions.

For what it's worth, I'd recommend springing for the Golf Pride grip if you can afford it. Most golfers regrip their clubs once a year, if not less frequently. It's money well spent because the grip is your primary connection to the club for feel and control.

You may be able to save $50 with a lower-level grip, but over the course of play I'm not sure it's worth the tradeoff if you like the feel and performance of the NDMC grip. I've had them on 3 sets, and I really love this feel and durability of these grips.

I've been using Sharpro grips for years, my local Golf HQ carries them over GP grips.  In fact, just picked up a new set of Red Multicompounds today for half the price of the Golf Pride Multicompound.  Essentially they are the same thing, I want to say the Sharpro grips are slightly firmer, but that's just my feeling....

jsut firmer?  or rougher also?

Not really rougher.  I just feel like the GP ones are just a bit "squishier" if that makes any sense...

I have been using the Sharpro MC for a while now and love them. I change them every year and they are great. I have them on all of my clubs but the Driver and Putter. I got a bunch at TGW and still have a decent stockpile and will be changing them out for the third time now. Just waiting for more snow to melt so I feel like it is actually closer to golf season up here. They are about half the cost of the Golf Prides.

The Sharpro MC grips are excellent. I regripped my clubs with them this morning. I put them on my previous set and really like them. On my last set, one did split along the seam, and this morning when I put a Golf Pride New Decade on my driver, I noticed that it was much harder to get on than the Sharpros. Don't think that means much, though. Sharpros are great. Side by side, there is a slight difference in design, but they are essentially the same.

I used Sharpro's for about a year with no issues and actually like them more than GP. If u have and Golf Headquarters around they carry them. Pretty cheap plus theyll usually replace them for free.

Another one to look into is the Avon ProDx2. It's not quite as firm as the NDMC or the Sharpro.
