Getting used irons ready to play

I just picked up some MP-33's for a song on kijiji and I'd like to get them ready to play.  I've never purchased used clubs before so I was wondering if there are any 'gotchas' I should make sure to check for.  The club heads and shafts look like they just have normal wear and tear.

Or maybe it's just 're-grip and let 'er rip', that would be awesome too. :)

Great advice thank you!  I did this treatment to the 6 iron and took it to the golf dome tonight along with the pitching wedge (untreated).  The 6 iron was much easier to hang on to.  I can also see why people rave about these irons.  I'm definitely going to switch over to them once I get them properly adjusted!

I took this set in to Golf Town over the weekend and had everything checked out.  They ended up resetting all the lofts and lies back to standard (they were way out of whack) and verifying all the lengths as well.  We then went through a 'mini-fitting' to determine if I could just use the standard shaft lengths (which I can) and also found that the DGS300 shafts were just fine for me.  The only real deviation was I had to have them all bent 2 degrees upright.

I took them all to the simulator at my local golf dome/range and gave them a good workout to see how they hit compared to before.  I also took my previous irons (CG Golds) to compare.  I have to say the shot pattern was very tight compared to before adjustment and even compared to my CG Golds.  I am a happy camper and can't wait for the grass ranges to finally open!

Oh it was also recommended that I upgrade to midsize grips as the standards are a little bit too small for me.  But I'm going to hold off on that I think (I'm used to standard grips at this point).  So for about $185CAD all-in I got some pretty nice irons that are even fit to me!
