I am a new member to this site and wanting to buy new set of irons. I need some guidance to see which ones most suitable for me. I am a 12 handicap. Hit my driver 255 carry and my 8 iron 155. Do not have time to practice a lot but started taking some lessons. I hit the ball decent but fight a slight pull especially the harder I swing and some chunky shots. I am 5’ 7” 170 and fairly athletic but small.. I bought new set of Ping G15 irons w/ steel stiff shafts last year cause was afraid of getting too much club but have found them to be very forgiving but goes left and hit fat some. Had fitting recently and he told me I have wrong clubs for my swing. He said I have pretty good swing but my clubs have big offset, very thick soles and he said are ¼” too long for me. He is a Mizuno guy and wanted me to hit MP 53 and JPX 800 Pro. I did and was very surprised how well I hit but am scared of getting too much club for me. I have also hated the looks of my Ping G15 shovels. Maybe I need shovels but hate looks. Would love to play some more traditional irons but be fairly forgiving also. Anybody have some help? Willing to play any brand but was impressed with Mizuno but I am not a player. Thanks.
