So these are from china... i know it sounds too good to be true but aparently they are OEM just not assembled at taylor made.

What do you guys think?

I have a friend who bought a set of R9's from them and he swears by them..

Thanks

I don't think anyone will be able to tell you just looking at these pictures.  The replica market is getting very good at most items that they really set out to copy.  Watches are getting almost indistinguishable, as are most purses and clothing items.  The difference in this case will be in the performance of the club as well as longevity.  Cosmetically I would think they would look the same.  Hopefully someone can help you out, but I am going to doubt it.

" MOVANLE WEIENT TECHNOLOEY"  written on the head cover should give it away. They also have shrink-wrapped heads with the ferrules on already, this is also known to be one of the telltale signs.  Your friend got ripped off.

Yeah, the headcover gives it away. The Taylormade logo is not fully on it and it says that technology company, look fake to me.

Sounds like a counterfeit vendor may have gotten some parts and assembled them on their own. That's what happened with the clubs I bought last year. See my thread for some of the same indicators (off-brand accessories, different ferules, etc.): http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/36679/mizuno-mp-68s-from-ebay-authentic-or-knock-offs#post_473746 Have your friend take them to a local pro shop that carries the same item to inspect the heads carefully. Fake.....100%.......if go to any of the websites that clearly sell fake clubs and ask them about their authenticity, they will all give you the same "OEM just not from Taylor Made" garbage...

Counterfeiters are excessively good at making ANYTHING look real...until you cut it open and see that all that's really inside the driver is a massive loose amount of solder, lead tape, and that's about it. No FCT or MWT....etc.

Bolded part = fake every time.  Many will be made in China, but they will almost always be assembled by the OEM in America (or Japan, or France, or wherever they are located).  Even if they are actual heads stolen from a plant, I would stay way.  Then you don't know what shafts you are getting.  In short, don't buy from Chinese companies.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

cant be that bad right? i mean... a putter is a putter... and less than 20% of the RRP

I read that entire thread.  It was a good read.  But since it kind of died, I have to ask...... do you still have the clubs?  If so, have you ever heard anything more from the seller?  What, if anything, was the final outcome of the ordeal.  Or has there been one yet?

I have them in the original packaging stowed away in my closet. The seller eventually gave up. The last I heard from him he threatened to call the police and I told him to give them my address and they can come pick up the clubs. As far as I know, that's what you're supposed to do with counterfeit merchandise anyway. Mizuno didn't want me to send them (Mizuno) the clubs so I just threw them in the closet. Ebay said I had no obligation to send counterfeit merchandise back to the seller. Paypal denied several of his demands for return of merchandise & subsequent demands for payment. Brandon
