I have a Nike Dymo 3 wood 15deg.and Nike Dymo 5 wood 19deg.  I also have a 3h Nike Sumo2 to replace my 3i.  and I have a Nike Sumo2 5h to replace 5 iron. Is that set-up cool?  I'm just wondering. Thanks.

What are your yardages for each club?  Do you have a 4i, 4h, or a gap between your 3h and 5h?  If you can cover the yardages throughout your bag then it should work fine.

In my bag:

Wood: Big Bertha 3W/5W
Irons: X-20 TourWedges: X Tour 52°/56°Hybrids: Idea Pro 2/3/4Putter: Black Series #2Ball: NXT Extreme/NXT Tour

I wouldn't go that route, but if it gets you around the course in one piece then it's cool for you.

I added a Sumo2 H#3 (23*) to my bag this year. I find it to be a club I can choke down on to make it more distance flexible. I would have suggested you keep the 5iron in your bag. My suggestion would ahve been to replace the 6iron with a 30* Sumo2. It has a high flight and great stopping power on the green. The 5iron is more useful for digging out of bad lies.  Do you have any problems switching betweem the regular Sumo's and the Sumo2 clubs?

Well, it's only four clubs... I guess you could putt with those, but getting out of a greenside bunker may be a challenge.

Okay, I knew what you meant.  Here's my - and I believe, most people's - feelings on this:  have gaps you're comfortable with.  At the shorter end of the bag, it's more important to have gaps covered than at the longer end.  If there isn't a significant gap between your 3H and 5H (Jim Furyk used to - might still - not carry a 4-iron, but had 3 and 5 with lofts to create less of a gap).

I'm guessing the rest of your bag is driver, putter, 6-P, GW, SW, and something fun for the 14th (maybe LW)?

in my opinion you 5 wood and 3 hybrid are one degree difference in loft, your 5h and 6i has 3.5 degree difference. in my opinion you should ditch your 5 wood and keep your 5 iron. heres why; in my opinion because I do not know how you hit you woods and hybrids: but I would rather see a smaller distance gap between your iron and hybids. you will probably hit your hybrids longer than your iron. even though your 5h is only a degree off of your 5iron you will probably hit it a club longer, or basically you'll hit it like a 4iron. In terms of the woods and hybids I think the 3h would be more versital than the 5wood. I've used my 4h(23 degree) anywhere from the tee to pitch and chip shots. Not to mention the distance would probably be similar. Once again its my opinion the only way to really know is to go out and play and dependant on the course your set up might and will cahnge. good luck

I would probably ditch the 5 wood unless you hit it really well. What kind of wedges are you playing?  I'm also a big fan of the Sumo2 hybrids...they feel great.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
