Are Grip kits worth it?

There are some pretty cheap grip kits on Ebay that come with 13 grips, grip tape, solvent and something to put the club in place. Has anyone ever used these?  Are they easy to put on?  How long does it take?  Is it even worth it?  Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I always put grips on myself it's not hard at all. I've never bought a kit off of ebay because I just get the tape and solvent at golf galaxy. The grips I usually get from golf works since I can usually talk my way into a discount since I buy them in bulk. I would say give it shot...

It is definitely worth it. If you have it done somewhere it can cost anywhere from 25-30 dollars in labor alone. Then you have to pay for the grips, tape, and solvent. I've seen some great prices on ebay. You can get quality grips, solvent, tape, and the clamp for about $65. They are simple to put on too. Get a hook blade utility knife to cut off the old grip. Remove the old tape on the shaft; sometimes if its really stuck on there take a heat gun at LOW temperature and warm up the tape a little. It will come off easier that way. Next, put your tape on; leave about 1/2" extra to fold over the end of the shaft. Wet the tape with solvent, then plug the hole at the end of the grip and pour solvent in the grip and slosh it around. Pour the extra solvent out, slide the grip on, and align the grip alignment marker with the head of the club. Wait several hours, and your ready to go. It is pretty simple. Check out you tube videos. Very much worth it. I actually bought one this spring. I did not need it as I have been doing my own clubs since I was 8 years old and have all the tool needed. But the price I found was unbelieveable and just an added bonus that I would now have extra tape, solvent and clamp. The grips I bought and the Lamkin Crossline Tours in navy. Cheapest price I could online was $4.19 each. 13 grips = $54.47 + $8.95 shipping = $63.42. I ended up finding a grip kit on Ebay with these grips and shipped to my house was $45. Give it a try...very easy.

I've regripped my own clubs for about 30 years.

I can build them up with masking tape just like I want and can make SURE the grip is lined up correctly.

I hate a grip that is not lined up perfect with the face.

Same for me, except I buy my grips off of eBay, I don't buy the kit just the grips, but buying the kit might be a good start.  I bought a vise that I can clamp on to a work table to hold the club, but found out it just as easy to hold the club in my hands and put the grip on over the kitchen sink.
