My new plan to get a new driver! Experiences recommendations with new equipment. 342 balls remaining

I would like to upgrade from my r7 quad ht to a new driver and be optimized for it. Since new drivers are so expensive I didnt think id have a chance to buy one so was gonna try get something cheaper like the 909 d2 or d3.  However till now I've relized that a good way to make extra cash whilst im playing golf is to look for golf balls and sell them!  Im so excited about this because I will hopefully be able to get a new driver optimized at the end of this such as the new 910 with project X that I will be able to keep for years by simply spending more time on the course.

Ive figured that pearl grade prov1s sell for roughly £1 per ball on ebay anything else around 50p. I will need about £300 to get the 910 from instore to easily cover it.  (it will probably be £250 or so) il probably get some discount as well since I know the owner.  So 500 golf balls should more than cover it. 

Im going to try and get out as much as I can this week and next week to practice more whilst looking for golf balls. Ive got two courses at my club and a practice field so resources are abundant. Then I will clean them up and stick them on ebay.  Hopefully by the end of the month I will have sold £300 worth of golf balls have a new optimized driver and a better alround game. I will keep posting.

Any recommendations on new drivers and shaft combos to try? Hopefully this will be a good way to make enough money to buy my golf equipment for the year.

yea I know what you mean thats why I was just gonna go for somehting like the 909 and be optimized for it however ideally I would like to get something new because of the customizability which will keep my game in tune for much much longer by being able to adjust it.

I like the shafts in my driver and wood 3.

hi, I notice you play the 910 d2 whats your opinion on it and the shaft you choose, what are they like.  Thats one reason why im going to start by testing the 910 is because of the choice of good stock shafts.

Regular came with RIP shaft - midkick and 60 grams. / Tour came with RIP Tour shaft.

Thanks for the input. I dont know much about the hawk other than its a newer material.  Is there much difference between it and titanium, does it feel different or sound better.  I was wondering if it also has any customization features?

ok to get an update on my scheme.  Today was the first day I got to go out and look for golf balls.  The weather has been really bad over here, rainy spells and wind plus my car battery recently died.  However I still squeezed in about 3 hours at the practice field today after I got a new battery.  spent about an hour on my game and the rest hunting for golf balls. Just got a count of 67 which isnt bad but I left cause it was getting late so there are still more areas to search, one guy told me he shanked a good few in an area ive still to look and think he was using pro v1s so i must get back there asap.I got a bout 4 prov1 xs with a few other titleists and some callaways other than that the rest were your average rat beater ball.  I am planning on going to the golf course tomorrow so will look for more then ive got all day to kill there.  

I dont no what to expect from the golf course tomorrow.  The weather has been bad and since its a week day there mite not be many however there will be a lot more prov1s etc to find since people generally play with better balls.  I just think there are more balls to find at the practice field for some reason even though its not even the length of one hole on the golf course so I will be pleased if i find as many tomorrow as I did today.  My bud wants to play in the afternoon at 3 so I will probably go up about 12 r so and play 9 holes, practice and have a casual look then meet him.  Then go round the hole course again after and search every square inch of the course when it should be quieter with more balls on it from that day.

Ive got a part time job which i despise.No about £16 an hour balls will sell for 50 p each. I found 67 in 2 hours equals about £33 so £16 an hour obviously the amount of golf balls will vary but im not taking it like an extra job. im doing it because its fun to set a challenge and feels like im getting it out of nothing but il be practicing more as well.  Nearly anyone can work extra hours to make more money.  

Im in the UK so those websites are US based I think so ppl here dont use them that much.  I have already taken into consideration that people may not buy them for the price I want with the fact that there are many people selling them also makes it harder to sell. I do have a good ebay seller status and the price I want to get for them is the price that they are selling for on ebay.  I guess I will just take that as it comes if they dont sell relist them or stick them up for auction again, I could also lower the price of them if necessary. Another thing I could do is even take them to the pro shop and see if he will buy any of them.  Cleaning them is easy I have oxyclean stuff in the house which is incredible i just stick them all in a bucket of water and that stuff takes everything of them even pen marks, they will look like new.  for shipping I will just put them in boxes.  

If none of it goes to plan and fails miserable I will have a lot of golf balls to keep at the end of it. For now im just going to try and work on my game and get to the 500 mark!Even if i sold some thats still money I can put towards a driver.

thanks for the posts.  I went out today again to try and play a full 18 with my bud and then go out and look for golf balls but it was a disaster the weather was so bad and the wind was extremely annoying.  It started lashing down and by the 13th walked home. Whilst I was casually looking along the way I found about 4 or 5 golf balls one being a pro v1.  Although I didnt get to do a proper full search for balls I will hopefully tomorow.  I will be going out tomoro about 1ish weather permitting so hopefully tomorrow will be better.  For the above post thanks.  Im also beginning to think that 500 golf balls could take more than the 2 weeks I was planning.  To get the most out of this I think the best way to do it would be to travel around to all the different golf courses in the area but I doubt I will be doing that.  I will update again tomorrow.

Time for another update, the last time I went out on to the course was yesterday. I planned to play a round and then search for golf balls but again the weather got bad and ended up playing 13 and going home.  However today the weather was fine and managed to get out to the practice field for an hour r two to work on my game and made some good progress there.Then I spent about an hour searching for golf balls to try and make up for the last few days and found about 50 r so which was really good and a good few pro v1s.Now I've just got another 382 balls left to find.  I think the field is the best place to look by a mile however I still want to search both courses as there are bound to be some good ones there.  I think the best thing to do is to go to the field every night next week and practice something then look for an hour r so just to keep the balls coming in and the practice.  With the weekend coming I plan to play on sunday and look on sunday night which will hopefully good since the majority of golfers play on saturdays and sundays.  

Another thing I was thinking off which will work is just giving the guy the golf balls for the club like one guy said above someone managed to get store credit for them.  I seen the owner the other day and said to him about the driver and he said that there are a few good 2nd hand ones.  I think I will go up after finding the golf balls just to try them out, find one that suits me and then just say to him il buy it just need to sell 400 golf balls first and hopefully he will say to trade them in there then I can keep the other 100 lol.
