Using these odds , let's have a little contest.

You have $100 to spend. You must spend it on three golfers in any distribution.

We'll award multipliers on the odds based on this scale:

1st place: 5x
2nd place: 4x
3rd place: 3x
4th place: 2x
5th place: 1x

If your player isn't in the top five, you lose all your money. I'll try to round up a prize for the winner, but your "bets" have to be in by midnight on Wednesday, EST.

For example, if someone chooses the winner and the fourth-place finisher with $25 bets at 20:1 and 100:1, he earns (20 * 5 * 25) + (100 * 2 * 25) = 25,000 + 5,000 = $3,000.

I have no idea whether this will work or not... My own bets (subject to change prior to the deadline) are:
  • $30 - Tiger Woods (5:1)
  • $30 - Davis Love III (40:1)
  • $40 - Stewart Cink (66:1)
Place your bets, gentlemen (and ladies)!

Let's see here:

$30 on Chris DiMarco (100:1)
$30 on Tiger Woods (5:1)
$40 on Sergio Garcia (33:1)

These picks are definitely subject to change before tomorrow night. Good job on getting the odds, this should be fun. I will definitely be keeping DiMarco at 100:1, but I don't know as far as the other two picks go.

Maybe. But that's not golf-related... We'll see.

I would have been a rich man in Vegas this week. I couldn't believe DiMarco was 100:1, I was taking that one for sure.

By the way, what a tournament!! That was absolutely golf at its best coming down to a duel of two great golfers.

I have to admit, I was wanting DiMarco to win very badly, and it had nothing to do with this betting competition. But Tiger just got it done again..

Great stuff.

I love the Masters. I love to watch it wether it's a blowout or a duel to the end. I always end up saying "wow that was cool."

DiMarco came through on that final 18. Had he not shot a 41 on his back 9 of the 3rd round, Ping might have some bragging rights. Instead it's Nike....again.

    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
