First hole in one 7/12/2011

Crooked Tree Golf Course Mason, Oh

#15 from the tips playing 165 hit a 9 iron

Here's the crazy thing... Nothing but cup and actually cracked the bottom of the pin. It was so loud when it hit!

We were actually taking pictures of the swings on the hole, too bad it wasn't a video!

Just FWIW, "knocking down pins" is just an expression -- the actual act is discouraged. Just kidding -- many congrats!

Congrats on the Ace.  However, I'd be surprised if you actually cracked the flagstick.  I've seen a lot of cracked fiberglass flagsticks, and it's invariably caused by ignoramuses who bend the pole back when tending the pin without removing it from the socket in the bottom of the hole.  I would bet that this is how yours was broken.  The noise when the ball hit the flagstick on the fly would still be just as loud.

Why do you gotta steal his thunder!?!?! lol.  I wouldn't doubt it if he cracked the flagstick.  The pop of fiberglass cracking probably is pretty loud.

Show me evidence even one time where a flagstick was cracked by the impact of a ball.  I can show proof of my contention, show me yours.  I did give him props for the Ace... that's a great feeling as I know from personal experience.  However, the ball causing the broken flagstick is just supposition, not proven.

I was really just jokin' around.  You are probably right.  I just think it could be possible.

Nice job! I killed one once, in Wichita, Kansas, at MacDonald Park, back in 1963.  The wind was blowing directly into me at the Kansas-normal 20 mph or so.   Was hitting a two iron and totally flushed the shot, a line drive that caught the pin about six inches up -- and it keeled over and died on the spot.  (The ball came directly backwards into a front bunker, which is probably better than where it would have wound up over the green. :-) )

That is reaaaaaly SWEEEET!!!!!!  Pics even made it better..........congrats and thanks for sharing!!!!! ....gotta love the pics!!

PS...I broke a plastic wingnut on top of the flag once.  LOL....... the ball landed directly on top of the flagstick and broke the nut off!!  The sticks were those that were fat in the middle...skinny top/bottom and the flag dropped to half-mast!! (funny stuff)

My ball bounced 15 feet in the air and into a bush over the green...............double bogey 5.   Hahahahaha...........

We worked with a student today and had him shaping balls around (very close to) a stick we put about 15 yards in front of him. One of the driveway markers. He was hitting drivers.

He dead nailed it once. It didn't break, or even splinter, but it shot out of the ground and bounced 20 yards down range. He NAILED it. Resilient suckers. More so than pins (which I've seen crack more often than I thought they should).

Outstanding!  I hit the pin about a month ago on a hole of similar length, but I hit 3-5 feet higher than you and the ball was slingshotted back and off the front of the green.  Bogey 4.

Thanks! Your breaking my heart man!! kidding. yea chances are that it probably didn't crack the pin. I just thought it was a little crazy that where the ball hit it was cracked.
