What did everyone think of Boo Weeley's choke putt on 18? Mark Wilson sure caught a good break with putting for par on the first playoff hole! I hope Camilo Villegas can pull out his first win tomorrow morning!!!!!!

Oh man, that was amazing. I was listening on the XM broadcast... I called home to make sure mom was watching on the TV when I heard of the playoff. How great!

I give it at least a 50% chance that it's Camilo or Jose.

While I couldn't stand to see Weekley"s choke putt, I thought the last hour of the Honda Classic was as exciting a finish as I've seen on the PGA Tour in some time. How about Wilson's clutch putt in regulation and his par on the first playoff hole? Pretty amazing stuff given his nerves off the tee! It would be great to see any of those four who made the playoff win. Really, I thought Villegas was going to take the playoff on the first hole, but it was not to be, tonight. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Camilo's 3rd shot from that terrible lie impressed me, he used alot of strength to muscle that ball from the rough. It was a great shot, then his first putt I thought had a chance, but he will be ready in the morning, he is past due. GO CAMILO!

Anybody else hear about the 2 stroke penalty Mark Wilson had to take because his caddie told the playing partner what Mark hit on the hole off the tee?

I feel bad for him, sure, but then again -- two top-10s in his rookie year, and he's already earned a significant sum of money. I'll bet that if he makes no more cuts, he still keeps his card. But he'll make more cuts and might even pull out a win.

Not just any playing partner... it was Camilo. How about that?

Yep, I agree for the most part. He still walks with $400K, which is obviously better than a sharp stick in the eye. But winning a tour event changes your life, and to miss out on that due to a 3 footer, ouch!!!

All that said I couldn't be happier to see a guy like Wilson win, especially with the two stroke BS penalty on Friday.

I am very dissapointed that Camilo didnt win today, I thought he would run away with it, but it just wasnt meant to be. But I am happy that Wilson took it down, he seems like a good guy. I think him, Camilo, and Boo will have one heck of a career on the tour and wish them the best of luck.

Not just any playing partner... it was Camilo. How about that?

I just seen that when they were talking about it, It was obviously a mistake and wasnt on purpose. I bet the caddie was very relieved that Wilson won!

....I don't see Camilo winning on the PGA tour with his current swing. Much like Sergio when he first came up, Camilos swing seems to be a "out of control" flailing rip. Anyway, just my impression. I don't think his swing will ever contend in a U.S Open course.

He has been working on making his swing a little tighter at the top and he is trying to be able to work the ball more. However I think that if he could control his power a little bit better, he will have no problems out on tour. When he gets his control and power in sync I dont see him having troubles for very long. Plus he is still very young, plenty of time to get everything going for him, just needs to be patient and it will come.

I was listening to the Chris Dimino Show on 790 the Zone and he was talking to Peter King about that. Apparently, the caddie told whoever they were playing with told that Mark just hit a 6 iron on whatever hole that they were playing. No one would have known except for the playing party but mark turned himself in and was "awarded" the 2 shot penalty. i feel bad for the caddie too. Golf has SO many rules in tournament play, I'm sure that there are rules infractions happens.

...I like Camilo, and I hope you are right. Right now, he just seems out of control with his swing. The kids got power, but he needs to tighten it up like you said.

Yeah he definetely has the power Once he gets his swing worked out and gets his putting together, I think he will be alright. That and patience.

Just what kind of course were they playing last week? I realize it wasn't set up by the USGA for a US Open, but from what I heard of the rough, and what we saw of the scores, it might well have come close.

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
