Hello everyone.

I am curious about golf bags.

I am wondering if the bag you have is the same brand as your clubs.

I know that you can buy whatever bag and whatever clubs you want but is it generally frowned on or in better taste to have the same brand as your clubs? Or at least close?

As for me I purchased some Ping irons and an Anser 4 putter.

But I prefer the looks of the Callaway Hyper-Lite 4.0 bag.

Just wondering what the general consensus is.

To each is own, but it doesn't bother me to use a bag that doesn't match your clubs. I have a Nike stand bag and use Mizuno irons, TaylorMade driver, Callaway 3 wood and Walter Hagen hybrids.

I do have a weird thing about wearing hats that are what I play though!

My bag only has the logo of an exclusive country club and the name of a millionaire on it. (From Play it Again Sports)

My bag is welcome where I am not.

Pick a bag you like that fits your needs and don't worry about who's logo is on it or if they match your clubs.  Someone will have something to say if you match your bag to your clubs or if you don't so easiest thing to do is not worry about what other people will think.

Nice.

I have a blank b/w stand bag with no name on it.  Got it new on ebay for $25-30.  It is made by "Precise".  Works great - and I personally prefer not having a brand or logo all over everything, including shirts and hats.  You know you pay extra for the brand, no matter who made the bag.  I do have a headcover and towel from my college to liven things up though.

In the past I have alway matched my bag to irons but after buying a Taylormade bag to match the Burner 2.0 irons this spring and quickly finding out I didn't like the irons and traded clubs, I searched for a bag that had all the features I liked. I ended up with a Nike tour II cart bag and really like it. I guess you can say I still l match since I play a Nike driver but you could always get a bag like a Bag Boy, Datrek or Sun Mountain and then it wouldn't matter at all.

Doesn't matter. I use a Sun Mountain bag because of the quality of the product and it's utility. Maybe try going that way if this is something that you are concerned about. That way you never need to think about it again. Same thing for Ogio.

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

I do like the Sun Mountain and Ogio stuff for sure. Seems like very high quality products.

But they are a bit more expensive than I can afford.

I will keep looking.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Some people like to have the same brand of bag as the brand of clubs they have, some dont care.  Personally, I wont own anything but a Sun Mountain or Ogio bag.  Theyre just that much better than any of the other brands of bags.

Its not as if theres some rule that your clubs and bag have to match.  I know some people who have Ping bags (because they are pretty nice bags) and dont own a single Ping club.  Ive also seen people have a Titleist bag and not a single Titleist club. (Titleist bags are made by Sun Mountain, BTW)  Its all in what you like.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Everybody knows that your handicap drops if your bag, irons and wedges match.

If golfers stopped doing this I might "shudder" have to buy new stuff.

I bought a Sun Mountain bag partly because it doesn't match and never will match the brands of any of my clubs.  This way any club i'll ever have will look good in my bag.

I think Sun Mountain and Ogio bags look better than the club maker bag brands anyway.  Plus they're better quality.

Personally, I gotta either have a bag that matches at least some of my clubs or a bag by a company that does only bags.  Last year I bought a Titleist 14 way stand bag and at the time the only Titleist club I had was a putter, which was fine with me.  I did end up switching out the irons a few months later with some Titleist sticks which made it even better.  When that bag got stolen I replaced it with Taylormade irons and a Sun Mountain bag.

My current bag is called a Lettermens Club II Cooler Bag.......it is blue & white with Univ. of Kentucky Logos on it....It definitely depicts my allegiance to the Univ. of Kentucky.

It all personal preference.  You can see my mix of clubs in my sig and I use an Ogio Syncro bag.  I love the bag and absolutely love the zipperless ball pocket.  I only wish they made it a little bigger so that it was easier to remove clubs with jumbo grips.  I am constantly snagging clubs if I don't pull them out perfectly straight.  Anyway, I don't care about anything matching.

I think you should go for whatever bag you like best that will suit your playing. Personally I don't think it really matter what the brand is. Yes, sometimes it does look a bit cleaner to have all the same brand but let's get real not that many people do that.

My bag does not match my clubs, although I wouldn't mind if it did.  I picked my bag (Slazzenger) mainly for function fist - most important to me was 14 way individual club slots.  Price second.  And color/style third.

I've been on the lookout for a new Nike bag.

    • I am a huge numbers guy and if a number can be applied to something, I want to know what it is.  Even in golf, I will pace off short chips as I have a 10 yard, 20 yard, and 30 yard shot whereas I take the club back a certain distance for each.  I have heard the comparison to basketball players that they do not know their exact distance to the basket, they just use their eye sight and adjust which I know a lot of golfers do as well when within a certain distance to the pin.  My question is, what is that distance for you?  I was at the range today and was hitting wayward  balls to a flag that I had no idea what it's exact distance was, I estimate that I was at times as close as 40 yards and as far away as 70 yards.  I was amazed at how accurate I was having not known the distance to the flag.  Temps me to not use my range finder within say 70 yards and go by look and feel.  What say you?
    • Well, it was yesterday but I shot an 88 at Lake Park GC in Lewisville, TX.
    • PXG Orlando, other locations I'm sure its the same, offers a full bag fitting for 25 bucks which is applied to purchase if you are a veteran or active duty, etc. Unfortunately I like my Titleist's.
    • Latest rumor is Clarkson, May and Hammond will have a new team on LIV.
    • That's not just sandbagging, that's cheating. Under Rule 3.3 for posting most likely scores, for example if there was a 2 foot putt for par, one can only take one extra stroke from what they lie, meaning par in that instance, not bogey. I didn't check the other instances but you can.
