Price of regripping

What would a reasonable per club cost be to have 13 cubs regripped with Golf Pride New Decade MultiCompound Cord .600 Round grips, including the cost of the grip?

These grips go for $8.59 at GolfSmith, $8.75 at Edwin Watts, and $8.49 at Golf Galaxy.  And I am looking at having it done at a local non-course golf shop where I've bought some used clubs.

I'm also interested in any comment anyone would like to make about these grips.

Probably about 3-5 dollars a club plus the cost of the grip.

I paid $15 at dicks to have one club cut down and re gripped.  I think they only charged $3 for the actual re gripping.

My place is charging me $11.99 per club including the grip, so that sounds very fair.

Regripping clubs is unbelievably easy ... if you have a workbench & a vice, I guarantee you can do a full set in an hour.      Most time consuming part is cutting off the old grips & scraping off the old tape.      All you need is a roll of carpet tape, mineral spirits and a vice/bench setup.     Anyways, if anybody's interested, I learned to do it from eBay video's - it really is a piece of cake.

A  lot of local golf shops will regrip for free as long as you buy the grips from them. I only had to pay $7.50 a grip for my multicompounds

I second this, heck even my 10 year old gripped his irons after I assembled them.  I mostly use air and blow them on and off, but a 2" x 36 yard roll of tape is about $8-$10 and you will be able to grip A LOT of clubs with that amount of tape (about 130 of them)!  And it's cheap fun to be able to tinker with your sticks.

I have regripped two sets of clubs.  It is 1000 times easier with an air compressor.  They go on in seconds.

Depends on the shop... one shop around here just charges the price of the grips (which tend to be about $1 more than anywhere else) where as another around here charges the price of the grip + a $3 installation fee... shop it around and see where you can get the best deal.

i agree with learning how to do it yourself! it makes you feel much closer...much more intimate with your clubs :)

Just be careful though. I started with regripping and am now building clubs for myself/friends/family and have lots of fun new tools and supplies on my workbench. Slippery slope and all that.

With regards to the OP: up here in Ontario at Golf Town it's $1 plus the price of the grip.

For people who enjoy this kind of thing I think it is great.  In my case I am not particularly handy.  Not that I couldn't do it - I've looked at some videos and it seems pretty simple.  But since I'm not handy I don't have the workbench or the clamp and I just can't see buying that stuff and then having to find someplace to store it to save me $40 in labor fees for regripping.  If I had some kind of workshop with a bench and a clamp I'd give it a try, but as it is . . .

Anyway I picked up the clubs today and played 9 holes.  I chose that grip because it as what a taylormade 3-hybrid had on it when I bought it used and I really liked it.  The new grips will take a little getting used to because they feel slightly smaller than the Winn grips I had been using, but I think I am going to really like them.

You don't need any fancy tools or anything.  I regripped my clubs this year.  Used a steak knife to take off the old grip and used Goo Gone to get the sticky crap off (wife was not happy about that, oh well).  I didn't use a clamp to hold the clubs.  After putting the new tape on I would lay the club on a box, put the solvent in the grip and poured it on the shaft and pushed the grip on with one hand while holding the head of the club in the other.  Nothing fancy about that.  It was my first time doing it and it took me less than than 1 hour to do 8 irons.  I must say Goo Gone is great!

Can any double sided tape work for this? Can I pick up all the materials at golf town? I am going to buy the winn lite grips tomorrow and I would rather do this myself than pay them to do it.

In my basement "hobby room" I have a very small 2 gallon compressor like this one:

You only need a max of 50 psi, so even a cheap little 12v emergency tire inflator compressor will do the job.  Then use a cheap blow gun with a needle that will slip into the hole in the grip.  When I got the PURE grips they came with one of their blow guns, so I use that one now.

Most any golf shop should stock tape, but you can get 2" carpet tape from Home Depot and Ace that is virtually the same thing.

sure, I use double sided carpet tape - works fine & is a whole lot cheaper than the pre-cut strips you can buy at Golf Galaxy.      I use mineral spirits - you can use any petroleum based solvent that will evaporate (don't use laquer thinner - it will damage the finish on your graphite shafts) - key is to FLOOD it inside the grip & on the tape - use alot of solvent - it'll slip right on.

I use ~ 1" of grip tape (only on steel shafts, to prevent the shaft from cutting into the grip), a little dab of grip solvent and an air compressor at 60 psi.  I put grips on a set of 13 clubs in under 10 minutes if they're already stripped of the old grip and tape.  It's the latter that takes the most time.
