Hey guys, I'm taking a trip to Myrtle Beach in the next couple weeks, and I'm trying to pick a course. I will only be able to play one day, so I really want to get the most out of it. Where would you guys suggest?

I coulda sworn I left the cart right here......

Anything at Barefoot Resort will be money well spent.  There's also the River Club, Any of the Cat Courses, True Blue or Caledonia.  Best to go check out the websites first, make sure they are in your price range, as some of them can get pretty pricey.

Do you know where you'll be staying? It is about 75 miles between Carolina National and caledonia with about 95 courses in between, all considered "Myrtle Beach" area courses. I can make better recommendations if I know  which area you are  staying in, any budget limitations, what criteria you prefer in choosing a course, such as how important is scenerey and the "wow" factor, how important is architectuarl values and shot values, do you want a long or tough course or are you a high handicapper that wants to avoid forced carries.

If money is no object my top choices would be:

Caledonia or True Blue at the south end (two very different style courses even though both designed by MIke Srantz)

The Dunes Club, Barefoot Dye, Love or Fazio or Grande Dunes in the center

Tigers Eye or Leopards Chase in the north end

If you are looking to save a few bucks but still want a quality course I'd suggest the following:

Heritage or Willbrook in the South

Legends Moorland, Legends Heathland, Wild Wing, the Witch  or Prestwick  in the center

Oyster Bay, Rivers Edge, Thistle or Carolina National in the north

Last time I went to Myrtle I went with family so I was a single golfer going out.  In most of the resteraunts they have golf magazines where they have a few last minute golfer planners.  I used one of them and got some good deals where they were looking to fill a foursome.  I played Legends Moorland, Myrtle Beach National and Caladonia all at 50% off.  Its worth checking out to get a little more bang for your buck.

I've pretty much decided on something from Legends, but the price is more than my dad wants to pay, since he hasn't played in years, so he suggested the same thing you did... magazines and hotel brochure stands, and finding some deals. GolfNow has the price on Moorland to $70, I think, and that's pretty good.
