hi golf junkies!!! i've already posted a few threads about new irons but now i finally went to a pro and he suggested the jpx 800! i'm now playing titleist 735 cms! i told him i'd like to stay with a forged club because of feel, but to tell u the truth i did't notice that much of a difference! i take my game pretty serious and rather have a good swing than ending up with a good result with horrible a horrible swing, i also like to mess around with trajectory, draws and fades eventhough i'm still in the process of learning how to consistently work the ball!! on course i just play lower and higher shots bc of the wind here in austria!!

so my question ... is it hard to work the ball with the jpx 800, especially trajectory wise? second question... i'm going to keep my current set bc i love them they are just to hard to hit at the moment, wouldn't it be smarter to choose a set, jpx 800, that is a lot easier to hit than going for the 800 pros which don't give that much more forgivesness?

oh and i didn't like the burner 2.0 bc of their distance control!

thanks a lot for your advice

If you want forged, then you should go with the JPX 800 Pro, if you want forgiveness then the JPX 800 would be best.  Another option is to build yourself a mixed set, going with JPX 800's for the 3-6 and JPX Pro 7-PW.

looking at the jpx 800 and i didn't notice so much difference in feel, so now i don't know which clubs to buy...! i like to vary my trajectory but i hardly work the ball, except i have to. can i do all that with the jpx 800 or will it be hard to keep the ball low?

For some reason (weight or something) I hit the Pros better than anything when I demoed clubs. Sweet spot on nearly every swing. So, they felt as forgiving as any club I tried including the JPX 800. I also liked that the JPX 800 Pros were designed to have better feel to work the ball. I too really try to adjust height more often that fades and draws. I never played the JPX 800's and I would not put workability stock on demo bay swings. Still, the Pros are designed for that and the regular JPX is not. It could be all metal, but I feel like I have better touch with these clubs -- for example taking five yard off a seven iron.

After playing the 800 Pros for a few months, I would guess they will keep up my improving game for years. And the feel is awesome when I make sweet-spot contact.

I was a 9.3 when I started playing them a few months ago and I have never wondered if another club would have been better suited for me. 6.1 today and more than a little credit goes to my new irons.

1st: Not exactly sure if this warranted a 3rd (by my count, possibly more) new thread that is discussing the same topic as the previous ones.

2nd: If you were fitted for JPX 800's then what would make you decide to go against the Pro's suggestion? Granted, pros aren't always correct, if he/she did an honest analysis of your swing and suggested a certain club then maybe there is some solid reasoning behind it.

In my opinion, my JPX 800 Pros are the only clubs I'll need from here on out. These clubs open up the doors to different shapes and trajectories of shots that I didn't feel like I got with my previous set of clubs that were more forgiving. I did hit the 800's but I hated the sound that it made at contact. This could just have been an issue with the specific club I used, but it just sounded horrible and eventually felt like I was hitting a rock. That being said, the ball went nice and straight and my results were better than my current set of clubs at the time.

In the end it comes down to personal preference and you can't find out the quirks or the pros/cons of a certain set without demo'ing the clubs at the range and certainly on the course. In my case, the clincher for the JPX 800 Pros was a 6 iron out of the rough that felt amazing. The thinner sole of the club slid through the rough with ease and the shot soared straight at the green.

Demo these clubs and use them as much as possible. If you only can demo a single club from each set, then use them for as many shots as you can. Compare lofts to make sure that if you are hitting a club a longer it is because of performance and not because of stronger lofts.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
