i just went to a golf shop to get fitted. Apparently I have a high swing speed and I want to compare this with other golfers: 7 Iron: 125 kph (78 mph) Hybrid: 145 kph (87 mph) Didn't really get fitted for other clubs. I choose the Taylormade cb irons however I don't know whether to get regular or stiff shafts. For a swing speed like mine, what is the best?

According to official Trackman data, the average PGA Tour club speed for a 7 iron is 90 mph, or just under 145kph, meaning an average pro would generally swing their 7 iron as fast as you swing your hybrid. I *think* a SS of 125kph(78mph) with a 7 iron would give you a rough distance of 130 - 135 yards? Of course there are other factors to how far the ball goes, such as spin rate, smash factor etc, but in general that should be the case. Maybe your fitter meant you had a high swing speed for your handicap? I really don't think you'd need a stiff shaft with those speeds. What shaft is in your Driver, and how far do you hit it?

A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Only got fitted for those clubs, they didn't have more time, meant to be 1 hour and I took 1.5 hours. But that's besides the point. I'm aiming to become a 10 handicap within one year. I'm building a lot of muscle now which inevitably will increase my swing speed. I have read that 87 mph is the average swing speed for drivers, did not believe this though.

Yep. Less muscle building and more flexibility/speed exercises will increase your swing speed, along with learning to hinge the wrists correctly and maintaining the shaft angle on the way down etc..

OK if I get regular flex irons and stiff hybrid or wood, will that work. Or do I have to go for all stiff or all regular flex? The thing I am worried about is buying the regular flex irons, playing for a couple months and then realizing I need stiff irons.

Well. It's not a permanent thing either in regards to the shaft you choose. You can always go to a Golf Galaxy and have the shafts re-measured, changed out, etc.

But considering I will need a stiff flex shaft soon anyways, isnt it easiest to get a stiffer flex to begin with? I just dont want to waste my money considering I am paying over $1000 for all my new clubs. The fitter told me I am in upper zone of the average player, between both flexes. I know I will play a hell of alot more with my new clubs so I believe I will definately need stiff clubs by the start of next spring. For me that is a waste of money to change then. But then again I dont want to be wrong. why can't it be simple!
