Titleist 907D2 or Titleist 905R

I have a 905R 10.5 v2 stiff and love it. Is The 907D2 as good or better than the 905R? I know why change, I like buying new equipment.. I know still not always smart.

I also have a 905R and I was going to switch to the D2 but I felt after Numerous comparisons I hit them both roughly the same so decided to hang on to my money. On the other hand my buddy did the same and found he hit the d2 WAY better. Good luck if you buy one, Im sure you will be happy either way!

The D2 is basically, from what I've been told by Titleist, a second edition 905R. They're very similar.

I have a little different experience, though. I didn't like the 905R - too much spin. The D2 seems to have less spin for me and not as much of a leftward tendency. It also feels a lot more solid and seems to provide a little more distance for me.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds exactly what I need. I still haven't had a chance to hit one yet. It's on my list for this week. How do you like your 585 and 735s?

Some information from Titleist:

The D2 is much more playable than the 905R. The inertia has increased both heel-toe and more importantly high-low. The high-low inertia increase provides more consistent launch conditions across the face (less spin and speed variation when you miss above or below center face). This is very important to a better player because they tend to miss in a circle where the average player misses more heel and toe. In addition, the 907D2 has been improved vs the 905R because of the tapered face insert design and the more efficient crown and hosel. This allowed us to further optimize the CG location providing among other things slightly higher launch (+0.2-0.3 degrees) and slightly lower spin (-50rpm).

My 907D2 is in on its way in the mail. I can't wait until I can actually hit it. Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait a little bit because of my PUD.

What shafts did the two of you get? I have the ProForce in mine - very, very nice. But I've liked the ProForce in other clubs too - the HiBore, the 905R (didn't really like the club), the FT-3 (very solid). It's in my 906F and my 585.H too.

I went with a stiff UST Proforce V2 85 Shaft in the 907D2

Yeah I have been tossing around the idea of getting the 906F2 with the UST Proforce... but its just a thought... and into June sometime I plan on buying the 585.H with the proforce in it as well.

Both great sticks in those clubs. Some complain the V2 is too tip stiff in the 906F2, but I've not had a problem. It's also a little less strong in the hybrid, which is just what you want there, too.

I have been playing the 905R (11.5 w/ YS-6 Stiff) for 1 year. Our club is lucky enough to have the Titleist Launch Monitor. This really helps to quantify the performance of the equipment. I have been playing the D2 (10.5 w/ YS-6 Stiff) for the past two weeks. The new D2 combined with the new ProVX decreased the loft by 1 degree. The sound is noticeably different. However, after 10 minutes on the range, the sound becomes comfortable - Unlike the new Cobra and Nike drivers which sound very loud no matter how long you use them. I do feel (and the launch monitor confirms) that the new D2 spins less than the 905R. The two clubs are very similar. The black finish on the D2 looks great. I could easily stay with the 905R if I had to - luckily I don't have to :).

Thanks. I use a 905R 10.5 with a v2 stiff shaft. I'm hitting it better. I think I'm going to try a 907d2 10.5 with a aldila vs proto stiff shaft and see what happens. I love the v2 shafts but I believe the aldila shaft is a better fit for me. I try the v2 and aldila shaft in the 585 hybrid and adila works better for me, I believe because of swing speed. Sorry I went so long.

Traded in the 905R today for the 907D2. Looking forward to tomorrow on the course... This will be my first club with the UST v2 shaft.

The 907D2 is also my first club with the UST Proforce V2. My 907D2 actually just came in the mail on thursday. I will actually get to play a round of golf today though because thursday we had lightning and I was only able to play 5 mixed holes. As for Friday- Sunday I was on a class trip to Chi-Town. I really didn't enjoy it because I wanted to golf

I like buying stuff myself but I preffer to wait until you trade in your R and I'll trade in my T and next year or fall I'll trade the R for the 907d2 when you trade it in for the next $400 club. keep swinging!

The V2 is preety tip stiff, I've got it in the 13* 906f. tough to hit the ball high but smokes it low and long
