Callaway HX foam practice balls. I can hit worm burners with them easily but I haven't hit a worm burner with them or on course for weeks which is a relief because that was all I was hitting for weeks.

Looking really good, EJ.

Thanks @JetFan1983, I'm seeing some great results from this swing. Obviously work to be done but really killing the ball. a1_smile.gif

Great news Jason!!  Swing looks good.  I admire the look of your A4 ... and especially your arms.

And I wouldn't make fun of that net ... it's nice to see you somewhere where you can take a full swing without breaking a kids toy of some kind!

Hit a dozen balls with a little 1/4 swing. Trying to isolate impact and really feel a nice crisp click with a solid key#3. Wasn't really picking a target, just making a basic motion. Didn't even realize I was pulling them all till I watched the playback. d2_doh.gif

This is good though. I'm going to do this again but with an alignment rod stuck in the ground. Force myself to learn how to start them all to the right of the stick. Give me something to do while waiting for my analysis.

Not sure if this matters all that much, but I just noticed that I have negative shaft lean in this picture. Roughly the same degree of lean as my Erie videos but back instead of forward. Could be the ball was a bit too far forward for a 6iron. I also deleted the film from the other swings during this session so I dunno if I just chose a weird one or if there's a pattern there. I guess I'll have to wait to see what Evolvr say unless one of y'all has a comment? Hitting the ball well regardless but this just jumped out at me today as odd.

Hands aren't as forward at impact either, bordering on the edge of a flip?

Looks a hair forward to me, @Ernest Jones. If you draw a line straight up, it seems inline with the outside of your left shoulder. Your Erie picture has the ball lining up more along your armpit.

Thanks for the second pair of eyes. I'll have to monitor that. Trying to break the habit of letting my ball position drift back to centre (or worse) all the time and maybe overdoing it.

Me? Overdoing something? Nah....

Only because you asked for comments, I'll chime in with my gut reaction that I saw at first glance. As I look closely, I'm not sure I see it anymore though:

In the left pic, I saw balance, relaxed, comfortable address.
In the right pic at home, I saw stiffness and a more tense and locked left arm.

Again, I'm no expert but that was my initial sense viewing the pics. As I look more closely, I don't see the drastic difference, frankly. Hope my impression doesn't lead you astray. Take it for what it's worth !

Yeah, I think that's just the negative shaft lean that gives that impression. I certainly don't feel tense, although I am focusing on straight arms and closer elbows in general because of the way it affects my backswing and A4, but not really with any tension.

I didn't want to pile on, but the stance is wider in the new pic, too. You look like you're hanging back a bit and reaching for the ball, Maybe that's why it looks tense.

Yeah, I noticed that too and almost put in my notes in post 870. Stance is funny though, kinda drifts around from day to day and lie to lie. I kinda think it's a bit of everything - stance a little wider, ball a few ball widths too forward and reaching for it due to those things. I don't feel tense though, I feel structured, if that makes sense. Anyway, hitting it consistently well contact wise so I guess there's nothing to do but wait for Evolvr.

I really like your backswing stopping point in the face on.  That is what I am trying to get to.

Great to hear you're hitting it well. I wouldn't worry about how it looks either, unless you start having problems.

I have read that one.  Maybe I should re-read it.

I can do ok with it just taking backswings with no downswing.  As soon as I am thinking full swing though, back go the arms...

I am going to post a video in my-swing thread illustrating this somewhat.

What works for me:

Feel like the right arm stays straight all the way to the top. As soon as you feel like you can't go any further without losing that sensation, stop.

As my round (or session) progresses I tend to swing a little longer and that's usually when the pulls creep in. Once I remind myself to not go past the point where I can no longer maintain that feel it straightens out again. An added bonus is that I seem to get a LOT more distance with way less effort on these swings. I assume it's mostly due hitting closer to the sweetspot.

I will give it a try.
