Just curious. Companies like Bite and FootJoy still produce and sell these things, but it seems that most of the golf courses I frequent specifically say "NO GOLF SANDALS."

Wondering why these companies still make 'em if nobody's allowed to use 'em?

It could also be that no one is dorky enough to wear them at the courses you play so no need to put up signs!

Seriously though, I can't ever remember seeing anyone play in golf sandals my entire life and that's a lot of rounds at all kinds of courses all over the USA. But the fact they sell them and there are signs at courses prohibiting them then I'm sure people actually wear them.

most of your high end courses ($100+ greens fee) strictly prohibit any type of open toed golf shoe.

i truely have yet to see someone wear them. they are pretty ugly. and how can you finish your shot with an open toed shoe? youll be digging your nail into the dirt..

Never worn them and never will. Nothing against them but I'm more of a traditionalist. Besides, I would think it would be hard to take someone as a serious golfer if they wore sandals.

- Haven't seen any signs banning them but then again I don't play too many $100+ greens fee courses.

One of my friends at work wears them ALL the time. They just don't fit into my paradigm of golf. Kinda like boots on a tennis cort.

Dorky is a good way to put it. I have never seen a sign either but it may not have registered becuse I have never even remotly thought of wearing a pair :)

Heck, I don't even wear sandals when I'm not playing golf. Period.

+1 I'll wear flip flops in the car after golf or a bike ride but that's about it.

I've worn them when I go casual on the course (t-shirt and shorts) and only at my local muni. The attire leans toward VERY casual. I like them and the Footjoy versions are really comfortable...it just a change of pace but only appropriate only at certain courses...

We have quite a few courses around here with some nasty prairie grass rough (think british links course) and I wouldn't want to take a hike into any of them with golf sandals.

Then again, not hitting the ball there solves that problem.

Seems kind of foolish to wear sandals on a golf course. You have deer ticks to worry about, or you can accidentally trip, then with no ankle support have a bad injury. Not to mention the ball hitting your foot after a bad swing.

If you hit the ball OB and are playing a pro v1, you might be tempted to enter the trees/ woods area, and might get bit by something.

Sandals? No thanks! Take that new age mumbo jumbo and give me a good pair of golf shoes or a sneakers.

my 2 cents.

Yeah, a lot of pressure. Rise above it. Harness in the good energy, block out the bad. Harness energy, block bad.

I can't say that I have wore them. Nor can I say that I have saw signs prohibiting them. They would look silly on my feet... because of my abnormally large shoe size for my frame. 6'0 size 14-15 tennis shoe.... yeah I know weird.

I was playing in a league and my partner got whooped by a guy wearing sandals (Florida golf). Actually, I'm not even sure they were golf sandals with spikes. I beat my opponent, so I give my buddy a hard time about it, lol.

Ummm, not if my life depended on it. The mere mention of golf sandals would, deservedly so, get you the razzing of your life from the guys I play with.
