Shawn Clement or Stack and Tilt for a Beginner?

Which one is best for the beginner????

IMO Stack and Tilt. Shawn Clement is a clown. His "arm club unit" schtick is pretty lame and he doesn't swing anything like he tells his students to swing. He has a massive sway. Great athlete, don't get me wrong, but he's the most overrated Youtube golf teacher around.

I've watched countless videos of his and I liked him when I first started... He can play scratch level golf both left and right handed, so he's obviously a very talented player. But as an instructor, I find him to be pretty vacuous.  Now I just watch his stuff if I want to have a good laugh.

Yea, off the top of my head I guess the feet together drill is decent. But he has so many bad videos.

Shawn is OK, he's not awful. He has a few good videos out there. I prefer Jeff Ritter or Josh Zander, but then I'm biased as I favour a one plane, centered pivot swing.

If I was starting over, it would be stack and tilt.

start with tip 1 and go from there. I think you'll see why it's easier to start with S&T.;

S&T; taught me the mechanics of a sound and repeatable golf swing.

I like Shawn's stuff definitely and there are a lot of great videos he's released but I just find I need to pick certain parts of his teaching to use rather than all of it.

S&T.;  Ive never been impressed with Shawn Clement.  Despite his claim, he's not the best golf teacher on Youtube.  Id take Mark Crossfield over him any day.

Umm. i've watched a lot of Mark Crossfield's videos, and he doesn't even know the ball flight laws. I commented on one of his videos what the real laws are and he stated that "I am entitled to my opinion"....Nice guy, but some stuff is pretty bad. I do like some of his equipment reviews on the trackman though.

IMO if I was to be a beginner again I would choose one well known coach that has a good reputation amongst the tour players and stick to him. I'd suggest Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, Pete Cowen or Hank Haney. These guys teach theories that have been proven to work and their pupils success on the PGA Tour justify that.

All those famous instructors are just fine tuning golfers who are already extremely talented.  I'm not sure any of them, or their theories, are going to be able to help beginners or high handicappers - does anyone think Hank Haney helped Romano, Limbaugh, or Barkley?

I have been teaching since 1970 and if I had to start a new player tomorrow, it would be with most of the S&T; moves. As mentioned earlier, as soon as you trap the ball a few times, you get the picture of handle ahead at impact. It is easier and simpler to get the student hitting the ball properly

Are you saying that none of these coaches would be able to help a beginner golfer or a golfer with a high handicap?

No, I'm just saying that the fact they work with tour players doesn't guarantee they can help beginners or high handicappers. And again, I think the Haney Project proved that point.
