Does anybody think Daly made a mistake by not staying warm and hitting balls instead of watching Vijay finish? Its easy to say yes after the fact because he hit his first shot into the water. Did it make any difference?

I don't think so because he hit 3 wood anyway and just overcooked it.If he had hit driver maybe you can say something but not 3 wood.

The original post wasn't about a 3-W vs. a driver, but about hitting balls or not. You can make a bad swing with any club.

I think, as the announcer said, you have to do what you normally do. Varying from your routine is the surest way to screw things up. John might have made 10 if he had hit balls. He didn't hit balls at the British Open he won in a playoff.

John would have been criticized more if he would have warmed up and hit it in the water in my opinion. So he did the right thing.

The question I have is "how will he do this upcoming week after losing in the playoff?" That will be interesting to see as far as I'm concerned. I look for him to play pretty crappy in New Orleans, but I hope for his sake he plays good.

His short game was really awesome this past week in Houston. So much touch for such a big hitter!

I'll never forget the close-up camera shot of Daly when Rocca drained that bomb to tie Daly on the last hole. It looked like someone punched him right in the gut. With the way that week had gone, you just knew Daly was gonna spank him in the playoff, and he did.
