I thought this would be a fun way to compare and contrast stats with players of varying abilities.   This may also help you identify your relative strengths and weaknesses by comparing with others.  You may be better than average relative to your HC in some areas of the game, and worse than others.........it'll give you something to focus on.

I saw in the other thread that many people here meticulously keep stats, so lets compare and contrast....

Mine:  currently a 2hc

Overall Playing Statistics
(per hole by hole statistics)
% Fairways Hit: 56%
% Greens Hit in Regulation: 49%
% Successful Saves: 36%
% Successful Sand Saves: 33%
Average Putts:
- per Hole: 1.65
- per GIR: 1.80
- per 18: 29.62

Par3 scoring average: 3.3

Par4 scoring average: 4.2

Par5 scoring average  4.9!!!!

Eagles:   0.5%

Birdies:  12.4%

Pars:     51.6%

Bogeys: 28.7%

DBogey or worse: 6.8%

I also have hole by hole stats...LOL

Even if you only track fairways and greens.....lets see them!!

nice game KCgolfa. I saw in the other thread when you posted your HC scores that we live in the same general area.  I have a membership at Drumm so I play most of my golf there.  My home away from home is Stone Canyon....

I see you play mostly up north....you must be a northlander.

Wow, small world. I wish I had more time to play Stone Canyon. Awesome course, but that native grass is hell. I unfortunately live close to Hodge Park so it's a cheap and easy getaway. I like to claim Paradise Pointe as my home course.

I've played the outlaw a few times...fun layout.  I've never played the posse.  I figure if I'm going to drive 45 miles..........I'm playing the OUTLAW!!!...Hahaha

You need to play Shoal Creek..........it's the best public track up north (IMO)...and it's in your backyard!  Yes, it's a bit pricey but everyone deserves a special treat.  It's an excellent golf course....I think it's better than TiffanyG..

  • 1 year later...

I noticed that several people have asked questions like how long till I can shoot x?  and obviously there is no way to answer something like that, but I've seen questions such as how many GIR for a x handicap player on average?  I've been curious myself of this and figured I'd start a thread where people that keep stats can share their current handicap and their main stats.  If everyone who keeps their stats contributes then people can see the ranges for various skill levels/handicaps.

The stats will be:

1)  current handicap (actual usga hc or unofficial hc you keep yourself)

2)  how long you have been playing golf

3)  average GIR per round

4)  average FIR per round

5)  average putts per round (actual putts from the green only, same way the PGA tour counts putts)

6)  average number of holes par and better per round

7)  number of rounds you played in the last 12 months

Hopefully this will help answer these kinds of questions and be able to see where others are at and areas to work on.

Par about 2 a full round 70.6/122, but I'm usually near the green in 2 on a par 4.

I'll play. Though stats can be somewhat misleading if they are YTD. People that are trending down will have better stats for the last 20 that are representative of what their current index is. With that in mind I will post both

1)  Current hc 9.6 low of 8.8 in 2013, started at 12.3

2)  18 months but had pervious experience.

3)  YTD GIR 36.1% Last 20 43.7%

4)  YTD FIR 51% Last 20 51.9%

5)  YTD PPR 34.9 Last 20 36.5

6)  Par or better YTD 34.9 Last 20 43.7

7)  Not sure exactly how many rounds, didn't post some of the offseason stuff but upwards of 90.

Dave :-)

These stats go back to the beginning of 2010, so don't really reflect at all my score if I were to go out and play right now. Especially the handicap index, which would be muuuuuuuch higher if I'd played more than a half-dozen rounds this year. 1) HC: 1.3. Lowest I got it was .1 two years ago, but that's when I was playing much more frequently, and that masked a lot of the issues I had. 2) Played seriously for about 9 years. 3) 10-11 GIR 4) 9.8 FIR 5) 32 putts 6) 12.6 holes of par or better per round. 7) Way too few. Hopefully many more in 2014. EDIT: Changed FIR number. I had the percentage number and multiplied it by 18 to get 12.5. Of course, there are generally 14 fairways on a golf course, not 18.

In my bag:

    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
    • Wordle 1,003 3/6 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩   felt a little like Wyndham when the first three green and I began the fist pump…
    • I'm relieved someone finally defined hiking. I was giddy when I saw these new TPI videos a day or so after they dropped. Very easy to understand the problem and solution the way they have presented it. Been working on fixing this for about a year and a half now. It's nice to be able to call it something so communication becomes easy.  I was working on more lateral and up too, but just having someone define it clearly in video form was so helpful for me to continue confidently with what I thought was wrong and how I had to fix it.  My conceptual error here was just trying to rotate like a tour pro but without including the necessary forward pressure/weight shift associated with enough lateral and upward motion of the pelvis.  This video is great too, as is Greg Rose.
    • Day 2.    couple mins of rolling putts end over end.    10 mins of Slow, mirror work, working on starting the downswing and impact wrist positions. Hit a couple balls into the net after.    Then finished with a couple chips to see if I could repeat what I worked on yesterday.
