Need new irons !!

i'm in the market for a new iron set, currently i play the mizuno mp-60 and really like them, but i want to get something a little more forgiving for those off center hits. i was thinking about the new mp-59/mp-53/mp-63, as well as ping i20 and titleist ap2. anyone have any feedback on these sets or any suggestions. my handicap is 5 and typically i'm a high ball hitter who usually plays a draw!!

If you're willing to stray off the beaten path I would look and Maltbe TE or MMB they are plenty forgiving and long at the fraction of the cost.

This past fall I went to a club fitter and hit a lot of different player irons.  Walking into the fitting, I was really eyeing the AP2's.  But after hitting the Mizuno irons, there was no comparison between them.

I hit the MP-59/69/53's.  I really liked all three of the Mizuno's - and only went with the 59's because they were the 2012 iron... Versus the 53's being their 2011 product.  And I was affraid that if I started having a day where I was mis-hitting my irons, if I bought the 69's I would end up with buyers remorse.  Seriously though, all three were great products - and just felt better than the AP2's.

That day I also hit the Ping S56's and a few other brands that I can't recall off the top of my head... But all in all - I love the decision to go with the MP-59's.  They are a great set of irons.

I have been playing the mp-63s for about 9 months and love them.  I bought my 16 year old son the mp-59s about 3 months ago and have been drooling over them ever since.  Too bad his fitted shafts are too heavy for me.  Given the choice of 59/53/63 I would lean toward the 59s, as they look amazing and are just a bit more forgiving than the 63s.  Can't comment on the the i20 or ap2, but I can say it will take a hell of a club to get me to leave the Miz family.

Did you hit the 69's? They were sweet too. I would love to get them and keep my 59's as a back up set in case I found the 69's to difficult to play. But when I was hitting them on the Trackman, they were flying just as easy as the 59's.

If you have MP60's, the Ping is pretty much out of the equation (apart from maybe the S56). They are bulky irons in general. Big toplines, wide soles, and made from hard stainless steel. The AP2's are more in line with style and feel. If you are looking for forgiveness, the 53's and the 59's are your best options of the ones mentioned. The 63 is more tour orientated. Its pretty much a blade with a shallow cavity but with less forgiveness than the 53 and 59.

If you like Mizunos, stay with Mizunos.

Just to throw a spanner in the works! I was fitted for a new set of irons 10 days ago at The Belfry. For weeks prior i was convinced i was going to get the MP-59's. Upon arriving i hit both the AP2's and the 59's. I hit both with varying shaft combinations but just felt that the AP2 'fitted' me better! In some ways i was disappointed as i really wanted the 59's due to the rave reviews and their superb looks but with the AP2's i was getting better carry distances and better dispersion figures. I also found the AP2 easier to hit which was suprising.

As the guys above have said, if you hit your current Mizuno's well i would be inclined to stick with them as there is no doubting they are an incredible set of irons.

+1 on the Maltby TE forged irons.

Have you Checked out the new KE4 Forged? I think I might swtich out the heads of the set I build for the father in law. I think I'm gonna pick up a couple wood heads for them as well. I'm still trying to find a 3 wood I like.

I have, and I'm thinking about getting a #6 head to play with.  But what I really want to get when they are available are the new Tricept wedges!  I had a Tricept TO 5 wood for awhile, but found a used CT250 that I liked better.  I just picked up a CT250 3 wood on eBay cheap that I'm waiting on, will reshaft it when it gets here.  Also will probably try the BM3 fairway when they come out too.

Got fitted a couple months back, always heard amazing things about mizunos but my buddy had ap2s and I hit them very well, so kinda had my eyes on them. They had the 53s and 59s so I was like what the heck got to at least hit these to see what the hype is about. Long story short went with the 53s, cant see myself ever playing non mizunos. easily the best irons I have ever hit, the feeling is remarkable(never thought I would be able to feel a difference), For whatever reason these irons just give me a crazy amount of confidence standing over the ball. That is probably a preference thing but def go out and hit them and I think you will see.
