Question on fitting

Hey guys and gals,can u still get fit to some clubs that u purchased off of e-bay.I mean there will prolly b a price associated with this and I am prepared to pay.But is this commonplace or will I get dirty looks bringing in a set to get fitted and I already pulled the trigger u know?Or at this point am I already screwed.

The local club fitter in my area welcomes a fitting with existing clubs.  Last fall my brother went in for a fitting, he plays Mizuno MP 68's and Taylormade R9 Driver and 3 wood.  I believe the fitting was $40 and basically what he found out was the irons fit him just right, the only change he made was the shaft on his driver.  It was the stock shaft and was suppose to be stiff, but was actually more on the regular side, so he bought a new shaft that was tuned for his swing speed.

Thanks guys I asked because i grabbed an awesome deal.I picked up used Taylormade tour preferred CB,s today at a great price.i live about 30 mins, from the e-bay store called 3BallsGolf.Affectionately known here as joe and Leighs discount Golf.I picked em up for a steal at 400.they retail new at 649.00.These r practically new,even Leigh said that these r practically new.Real great peeps to deal with.I gotta post my WITB for 2012,im effin stoked

Thx. guys all great info especially u tiger.I was gonna have them do the fitting then but I had to get to a doctor,s appt.Leigh said c,mon back so we can check the lie and loft angles when I get a chance.It,s still early on in the season here in Mass. so i,ve got plenty of time.I,m goin in Friday morn. to have them do that.I also signed up for a 5 pack of lessons @ my local GolfTown.Can,t wait for the great weather.

I would recommend that you go with a dynamic fitting by hitting off a lie board and having the lie adjusted accordingly. You should always check the lofts to make sure they are factory spec unless you are anal like me and have your own idea on how to set them up.

I weakened my set 6 iron to pw one degree to start at 48* and then spaced 4 degrees until the 5 iron which is 28* then bent the 4 and 3 a degree strong to put the 4 at 24* with the 3 at 21*.  I went from 47-43-39-35-31-28-25-22 to 48-44-40-36-32-28-24-21 for a little more spacing between the 4-5-6 irons. Again, only if you are a little nuts.

Those lofts would make me feel slightly less manly but would space my wedges perfect for 48˚ PW, 54˚ SW, and 60˚ LW, and would also give me more options at the long end, since I love the 19˚ hybrid I carry which means I almost never hit my 20˚ 3i and haven't since I got over the excitement of having new (for me) irons.  I could always drop the 3i entirely and get a gap wedge, but I'd prefer how you have it set up.  I know the 6˚ gaps in the wedges seems high, but I'm pretty good at the just take it easy and hit it 10 yards short shot, but I'm bad at the 80% distance shot, which is what is required now when I have a shot from 110-115  and I have to choose between my 54˚, with a stock distance of ~105, and my 46˚ PW, with a stock distance of ~130+.

You can go 1* no problem and sometimes 2*. You just need to make sure you are not affecting the bounce too much.
