I am in the market for buying a new driver. Two years ago at the end of the season, I replaced my Callaway Hyper-X 9 degree driver with a Taylormade 2009 Burner Driver. Before I made the switch, my average drive was about 280 with a baby fade. After the switch, my distance went down to 250 and the ball was everywhere. I am not sure of it was the extra shaft length, but that club was not for me. With that said, I think I want to leave Taylormade and maybe get a new Callaway. However, I am open for anything but my price range is around $200 (I may go to $300). I would like a driver that is similar to the Hyper-X line from several years ago.

sounds like the shaft wasn't matched well. If you hit that first one well, its probably because your use to the swing weight, and the shaft was fitted pretty good. If you switched to a lighter club it could throw things off, and also if you didn't get fitted for the right golf shaft.
