I have cracked the face of my last 3 drivers and current 3 wood . they all cracked toe to heel  about a 1/4" above what would be considered the sweet spot . is it # of hits, age or other that does them in ? thanks , Mark

It could be a combination of all of the above. Temperature can also play a role in cracking a club such as a Driver or Fairway Wood. Aside from these factors, I'm sure someone with more extensive club composition knowledge can answer your question better than I can. I am only aware of club faces exploding under extreme circumstances... such as my buddy playing his R11 in 28° weather - which is insane and too damn cold to be golfing to begin with!

What are you hitting with those, rocks!!

I just looked at my driver that's about a year old. It's been used a lot at the range and at the course.I don't see anything like the marks you have on yours.

A few questions:

How old is it

What brand\model is it?

I could see if it was a knockoff club you bought for $30 at a sporting good store, having cheap material, but if it's a brand name, then i would go with Spyders comment on weather and age being a factor.

it is a Tour edge Bazooka , J series 3 wood . my last 3 drivers were also Tour edge and met the same demise

I swear the only thing I have hit with it is golfballs however I do play the ball as it lies and not all of my lies are good lol

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
