So....With a 15 handicap...And I usually slice the ball, so I line up to the left most of the time....What are these Zero Friction tees and should I have them....Are the legal ...etc..

Perfectly legal, yes. More information available at...

http://zerofrictiontees.com/ . They don't (often) break. I've literally gone a year carrying three tees around - at least two will usually survive. That's why I like 'em. I don't quite believe the "straighter, longer drives" B.S., but they don't break. And the prongs are good at cleaning grooves.

I'm another fan (and one who also doesn't really buy the "performance" claims). I've gone at least five rounds without breaking or losing one, and now just put one tee in my pocket for the day.

I like the Zero tees,they usually last a long time, except last fall I broke five tees in a row,then I went back to wooden tees for the rest of the round, It was cold out.

I tried em based on the reviews here and love em. Bought them last year and have used maybe ten, which includes giving a few to my regular playing partners, who still use the one I gave them. Broke one with a pitching wedge on a short par3, so I use short wood tees when I hit an iron off the tee. Some of my playing parters like em so much, that they are now buying them.

Like the other posts, I haven't had any problems using the Zero Friction tees. I originally read about them here on the Sand Trap's review of Zero Friction tees and decided to try them out. I've been using them since early 2006 when they became available here in Canada. I haven't had to buy tees since, even after splitting half of the package with my sister. She hasn't had to buy any tees since then either.

Honestly, I'm not sure how this company makes money considering I don't need to buy any new tees. I figure one package (50 tees) can easily last two if not three years. I play about 3 rounds every two weeks. After three rounds, I might need to get rid of one tee because it gets a little bent after an iron tee shot. Otherwise, these things last forever. I'm not sure if these tees actually make my shots go farther, but it sure can't be any worse :)

Ah, you use them for irons. I was wondering how you were going through them so quickly (where by quickly I mean breaking one every 2 or 3 weeks). I use little nubs left over from someone else when I hit driver or 3W. Sometimes I'll use a ZF for a 3W, but mostly I prefer to use the left-overs. Always for irons.

My sister's boyfriend, who's a scratch golfer and assistant pro at a golf club up near me suggested them to me. I love them, they don't break...(maybe once every 27 holes) and they really aren't expensive either.

I noticed something else in your post - if you're a slicer of the ball (like me), won't the slice be exaggerated by lining up to the left? I've been told to line up at the right side of the tee box to try and keep the ball in the "left side". Am I wrong here?

You are right, but I think he meant he is setting up aiming to the left, not setting up on the left side of the tee box.

Erik -- you've got me converted to Zero Friction tees now based on your recommendations. I have a question for you though...

I've noticed that the tee shaft gets "soft" after I've used it a few times. Our tee boxes here are sometimes pretty firm and I've had some trouble pushing the tee back int the ground after it's been used a few times. Have you experienced this before?

It's not a deal breaker, I still like the tees but the first time I encountered it I felt as though I was going to bend the tee over while teeing the ball. I'm thinking it's just the effect of hitting the tee and bending it over during the shot. I'd say I only knock the tee out of the ground on maybe half my shots.

I use them but not because they are zero friction. They just don't break and I don't have to carry many. They look like regular tees except theres only three pegs the ball sits on.

I got tired of going through tees, and after reading the review on here picked some up.

I've managed to break a couple over the course of a few buckets of balls on the driving range and a dozen rounds, but on average I might either lose or break one once every three rounds. (Usually lose them).

I don't buy the performance claims, but they work just as well as regular tees, and last forever. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it's a little tough to balance the ball on the prongs after a few beers on the front 9
