Ok..it's time to get with some of the new technology available in drivers and was wondering what my fellow sandtrappers have hit and what you bought?  Personally I'm thinking about two different drivers.

Razrfit from Callaway and Cleveland Classic.

Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I work at a dicks sporting goods and I have hit a good amount of the clubs there while trying to make my decision on which driver to buy. My personal non driver favorite is BY FAR the rocketballz 3 wood. The thing is a beast. The rocketballz driver in my opinion is nothing to write home about and neither is the R11s. I just picked up the R11 yesterday for 200 (150 after a trade in). It is a little different to hit but I amm sure once I get used to it I will love it. I havn't hit the Razr fit yet but the new cobras are also pretty good.

As a Dick's employee, arent you missing out on some clubs? I know the local Dick's here carries no Titleist products other than Vokey wedges and golf balls.

You seem to have some speed, judging from your bag, and probably put some spin on the ball - try the Adams Fast 12 or Fast 12 LS (low spin). They have some decent stock shafts, too.

Dont ignore the new Nike VR_S… Its a fantastic driver! I have the Titleist 910D2 now, but I may be switching. Thats how impressed with the new Nike stuff I was.

RBZ is junk. More media hype than distance… Hahaha

I was just at the local golf store this weekend, and I hit just about everything new out right now. I didn't like the Callaway Razr fit, but ive also NEVER been a fan of Callaway stuff other than their forged wedges.

The R11S was nice. Im not sure what makes it "that much better" than last years R11, but both feel decent. They have a nice "crack" when hit in the sweet spot. Reminds me of the R9 Superdeep TP.

Like I said above, the new Nike VR_S is awesome. Also has an awesome sound when struck in the middle. Not to mention the Fubuki shaft is a great shaft!

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.

Thanks for all the reply's, I do have some speed to my swing or at least I think I do (104 mph) with the driver.  I had the first Adams and I liked it until the shaft broke on me and then after that it just didn't seem the same.  I think I may take a look at the new Nike.  I stopped by the local Golfsmith today but it was just to get some new KBS shafts installed on my irons.  I looked at all the nice new drivers but didn't take any for a test drive just yet, I didn't want to be rushed during this process.

Anyone else?

I have but I have never been a big fan of Cobra...I've tried to hit them and it just doesn't feel or look right.

I dont like buying the most heavily advertised products however this year i decided to go with the R11s. I spent hours at my local sporting store testing many drivers. I spent most of the time with the TM RBZ, TM r11s, Nike VR s, the Callaway Razr fit and black models, and the ping k15. The Ping had a very nice feel. The face was explosive however that added weight on the heel, while nice to straighten the fade is not adjustable once your swing improves, so I eliminated that one. The RBZ was not my flavor. I felt it was over hyped and does not deliver as much as I expected. The nike seemed to be fairly long however the face seemed like it didnt give the feedback that I was looking for. The shaft in the nike was far too soft for me. I was swinging in the 102-107mph range and usually like the feel of a regular flex shaft but this one didnt work out. I was getting launch angles in the 20 degree + area and a spin rate of mid 4000's. The callaway's were interesting, however even a perfect swing achieving a smash of over 1.48 didnt feel that rewarding. The launch angle on this seemed to be the most consistent yet still not to my taste.

The r11s seemed quite forgiving and the sweet spot was amazing. Everytime I hit that sweet it told me so and the way that ball came off the face was gold. I am a very big fan of the face of the r11. It is not as oval as the others and i found that i was able to consistently get closer to that sweet spot. Looking at the simulator the results were very clear, after a slight tweak of increasing the launch angle one notch I was getting a launch of 12-14 degrees and my spin was under 3000 usually between 2600-2850. I could not argue with the results and purchased the r11s.

Walked into a local golf shop on a slow day, and they urged me to hit the RocketBalz and the Cleveland Classic driver.

Took the R-flex versions of both lines.

RocketBalz driver would be a super club - if they'd knock 1.5" off the shaft. I good good distance, but control was not there. After preliminary hits with both drivers, I put some impact decals on the faces. The RBZ was again all over the place. I ended up with two tall ovals of impacts, one over the heel area and the other over the toe area - nothing close to center. A look at a clubfitting troubleshooting chart suggests too long a shaft as root of the heel-toe problem.

The Cleveland Classic worked out much better. I had the medium-weight club (290 grams) The Classic has a very tall face, and reminded me of a favorite persimmon-headed driver I foolishly traded away one day in the previous century. Classic produced a scatter pattern around the center of the face; I think it would have worked better if I could plug in a wooden tee for slightly lower ball height. Shot trajectory was a mix of draw, fade and straight, but I think I could straighten it out with a little work.

Quote from Cleveland golf site on Classic:
Features premium Miyazaki C. Kua 43 gr. shaft, and Lamkin Superlite 36 gr. grip.

Note: All versions of the Classic come in 45.25" shaft as standard, a bit shorter than RBZ.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Thanks for the updates guys since my first post I've been to several places hitting different clubs and all though I want some of the newer technology with an adjustable head I just like the look and feel of the classic.  I haven't pulled the trigger yet on the purchase but I think the 290 gram Classic is going to find its self into my bag this year.  Thanks again for the updates on your findings.

Ok...well I finally pulled the trigger on my purchase of my new driver. Drum roll plz.....................................................

Ping G 20 10.5* stiff.

Overall for me the numbers on the launch monitor were the closer for me on this driver.  I never owned a Ping club ever but this driver has such a good feel and I was able to pick up a little more club head speed (106-108 mph), more launch 12.5-13* and more ball speed 157-160 in which all these factors gave me more distance. This club was also very forgiving on miss hits.  I will take the distance from the monitor with a grain of salt but If it's anywhere close on the course I will be very pleased.  My league starts on Friday so we will see what happens out there.

I was never a fan of callaway but i just bought the razr fit with the graphite design tour ad di-6 shaft in it and wowwww. This thing gets a ton of hang time, ball speed and distance. I was carrying it about 290 with my R9 TP and now I am carrying it 310 with great accuracy. My swing speed is about 110mph so I got the x-stiff shaft.

I wish I could get my swing up to 110...nice job!

I'm a Callaway fan, but I hated the feel of the Razr driver from last year.  I picked up the Diablo Tour instead and I really like the look and feel of it.  That being said, I'll soon be going through this exercise myself: I bought the woods off the rack last year, and while I *love love love* the 5-wood, I've grown ambivalent about the 3-wood and driver.  My plan it to drop the 3-wood to make room for a 64deg wedge and get properly fitted for a new driver.  When I do that, my two year odyssey (no pun intended) to craft the perfect set will be complete.  Unless you include replacing my Hybrid-3. And another thing... (better stop before Ms. Joel gets nervous...)

In my  bag:

 Diablo Octane Tour 9.5, 18  -  6DT 19 (3I Hybrid) -

 Diablo Forged Irons 5-PW -  Tom Watson wedges 52,56,60 - 64 (generic)

 D.A.R.T. Belly Putter

 B330-RX Balls
