Hey guys, I just signed up the other night and have enjoyed the site thus far. My name is Webb Simpson, I'm a player on the Tour with a wife and beautiful child. I was born in Raleigh, NC, played golf at Wake Forest, and currently live in Charlotte, NC. I found this site through a friend of mine and decided to take a look. I assume you all are golf fans and enjoy the game. Just wanted to get off on the right foot on the forum by making this thread. You can reply asking questions about golf, life on the Tour, or anything you please. So cheers to future good readings on the SandTrap and to good golf rounds ahead. Thanks

God Bless

1.) I have not been offered by EA to be in the game. Something I would like to be involved in, in the future because I play the game myself.

2.) Webb does not stand for anything, my parents just liked the name. I don't really have any nicknames with "Webb", so that's just what I've been called my whole life.

Thank you, appreciate it. I hope I can put on that green jacket as well next week. It's gonna be a dream come true playing in the Masters, I remember daydreaming about it in school sometimes haha. Can't wait to step up on that first tee.

I can promise you wholeheartedly that I am Webb Simpson. If you do not believe me, I guess there is not much I can do to prove you wrong; but you can ask me anything to question me if you still don't believe me.

It sure would, but my money is on it being another Patrick57 guise.

I see that you are a +4.8...what is your lowest handicap ever?  I recall that Tiger was something like a +8 at one point.  Have you ever played a practice round with Phil?  Does he give you shots or is he about a +4.8 also?

How about uploading a current photo of you and your beautiful family?

Good to have you aboard.

I have  a couple of questions, if you don't mind.

1. - Regarding long putters, in your conversations with other players, would you say that the consensus is that in a couple of years you won't be able to use them?

My guess is that they accept that its days are probably numbered and are fine with it - and probably care less about the issue than the average person on this site.

2. - Do you think that professional players really need their caddies lining them up on the tee and on fairways? I think it's a very "bad look". I've never seen them make any adjustemnets, so I'm guessing it's not necessary - just a confidence thing for the players.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

To Shorty,

Thank you, glad to have joined.

1.) Well, that's a tough question. Talking with the players that also use long putters, we do know that there is a good amount of criticism out there. However, we are still playing and preparing like they are going to permenantly remain part of the game. If it ends up that they are deemed illegal, so be it, and we will change back.

2.)  I think the majority of players do not need it. But personally, I do not have any problem with a caddie lining them up because it is still within the rules of the game. As for a "bad look", the players on Tour don't really care as long as they score low.

Hope those answers are sufficient.

I think I have stayed right around +4.8 in my professional career. As for Tiger, yes, he was and still is one of the best on Tour. I have played a couple of practice rounds with Phil, (great guy), last year at the Wells Fargo Championship, and at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. I'm not sure exactly what his handicap is, I would imagine around he same, but during practice rounds players don't usually have head-to-head matches. It's just fun to get to know the course with a buddy of yours, enjoy the day, and sign some autographs.

    • You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.
    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.
    • I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
