Chafing while/after walking a round - Page 2

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

Yet another vote for body glide. If you don't want to worry about dealing with it afterward, put it on before you go, and you'll be good! In my prior life (read: before a foot injury sent myself looking for a new activity) I was a runner, and it was definitely helpful. I hope to get back to running too, if I could manage to break away from all of my golf thoughts to focus in that direction again. ;)

Body Glide or compression shorts.

If you get a pair, buy some with short legs and not ones that come down near the knee.
Something tells me that if I lubed up the undercarriage with Vaseline I'd have a LOT of trouble concentrating during my round. I've got enough stuff moving where it's not supposed to during my swing without the family jewels acting like otters on a mudslide!

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

No missing someone on the course with this problem. Just look for the guy walking like he just got off a horse. My brother and I affectionately call it crotch rot!
I have lost 75 pounds over the last two years and it isn't a problem for me anymore, but when it was I sprayed Tenactin before the round a it helps dry things out and leaves a powdery coating. If it did happen, on the advice of a friend who was a paratrooper and used to get it with running, I put diaper rash ointment on it after a shower and it would be gone the next day.

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

This is why I NEVER play without compression shorts.

I'm a pretty skinny guy, (6', 170) and this is still an issue for me if I just wear regular boxers.

Johnson's baby power after showing and just before the round.

I'm a bit of a runner and body glide will solve your issue.

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

Baggy cargo shorts Add baby powder as needed..

OT. Thought I had a hernia or worse many years ago. My doc wanted to do some X-rays and test. My wife mentioned it to her family doctor, a guy with decades of experience, and his advice was to try wearing boxers instead of briefs. He was one smart doc.

well you'd be applying a little too much, lol. Just wanna use enough so that there isn't skin on skin contact is all

otters on a mudslide, funny stuff.

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

Problem has been solved. Picked up some compression shorts at Kmart of all places for 9.99. They had black starter brand compression shorts that are great and you can't beat the price. Also I picked up some of the Lanacane anti chaffing gel. It's not cheap its around 6 to 8 bucks for a small tube but what golf related item is cheap! The tube of gel seems like it should go along way tho. Seemed to do the trick! Thanks for the suggestions and I hope mine can help out someone out with my suggestions too. I've been walking and playing the past week and no problems!

That's a great deal, especially because Starter is owned by Nike. So you basically bought Nike shorts without the swoosh.

Really I didn't realize starter was made by Nike. They are very nice, simple but nice. You can prolly even pick them up at Wal-Mart even because I've seen starter items at walmart.

As a matter of fact I just found the same compression shorts online at Wal-Mart. For $10! Good buy

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

This will sound wierd, but after you have chafed, use diaper rash oinment! This works great and it very effective if you are on a long golf weekend and chafe on the first day, it will get you through the rest of the weekend! Just don't buy the brand name stuff, buy from CVS or Walgreen, your buddies won't know what it is, save you from catching a lot of crap!

Re: Chafing while/after walking a round

Butt Paste works wonders after the damage has been done. I usually wear boxer briefs and Under Armour compression shorts when Im walking. When I ride it usually isn't an issue. Just make sure to shower/put on dry clothes after the round. I usually get the bad rash after sticking around for an hour or two for beer, sitting in my sweaty clothes.

They may give you crap at first, but you're the one laughing when they cant walk normal.

We all know what that wide stance walking/wobble looks like after the rash comes lol
