How many putts do you usually have in an 18 hole round?

I'd say I have around 34 putts. That's pretty bad, and IMO, this is where I kill my scoring. If I don't hit the green in regulation it's very rare I make a par which is what I need to start getting better at chipping within 5 feet and sinking it.

Up until I had a putting lesson, I regularly had 40+ putts in a round, including my share of three and four-putts.

I shot 9 holes today, and kept it under control (14) so it's only really to say if I can keep that going. I had several up's and down's, something that's usually rare for someone like me. There's also a few putts I should have made, but didn't. (5 feet).
"Shouldn't you be going faster? I mean, you're doing 40 in a 65..."

29.59. Last year I think it was 30.10.

I just started keeping track of stats this year and I'm currently at an average of 33.2. I gain most of my strokes pitching/chipping.

42.9 last month down to 38.4 this month and still falling. I had a little bit of a breakthrough and expect to continue dropping putt strokes.

I just started to keep track of this 2 weeks ago but so far my average is ~34. Over the winter i've had some sort of crazy breakthrough for putting and i have no clue what it is, i'm not going to complain about it though because it is really helping me score well now.

It changes on how I am hitting my irons...good equals more putts
bad equals more chip and runs....translates into one putts

Last year I averaged 36.7. This year I'm down to 34. I think you have to be a little careful interpreting putt number though. For example, the reason that my numbers went down is due in part to the fact that my irons are getting more consistent so I don't have as many opportunities to 3-putt from 60 feet, and the fact that my wedges and chipping have been pretty strong. I'm getting a lot of tap ins now. Course I've also had a little bit of a hot spell and have been rolling in 15 footers. Just note that a high number of putts isn't necessarily bad putting. For example if you hit every green in regulation and two putted your average would be 36 putts. I think I would be happy with that.

Your exactly right. I am averaging around 32 per round right now. But that is because I hit very few greens in regulation, my last round I shot 86 with only 32 puts, I only hit 3 greens in regulation. I had six puts on those three holes. I average pretty close to 2 on holes I hit the GIR, but about 1.7 on holes I don't hit in regulation. If I hit 6 GIR and averaged 2 and averaged 1.5 on the rest I could probably break 80.

I usually have around 29-30 putts per round. Thats because I miss alot of greens. Good practice for my short game, bad for getting birdies.

Averaging a little over 33 putts per round so far this year (1.86 putts per hole). It's usually lower b/c I do not hit a lot of GIR, so I have a lot of 1 putts when I am able to chip it close. But this year, those 1 putts are turning into 2 putts....can't make a 5 footer to save my life this year.

I average between 32 and 33, but that's because I miss a lot of greens, so I chip and one putt quite a bit. On my best scoring rounds, I usually have more putts than my average, as I'm hitting greens and 2 putting. I've had 36 putts and shot 81, but I've had 26 putts and couldn't break 90.

I usually have 30-32 putts. If I'm under 30 it usually means I scored pretty well. Also my course has VERY small greens....not a lot of 3 putts
