If you live in the Chicago Area, Do not get fitted by Surestix

They will rip you off with their cheap shafts and "flat line frequency" fitting. It's not worth the money. I did the fitting and bought into the "technology". The "technology" is making it so all the shafts from Driver to PW flex the same. You might say to yourself, "this is stupid. of course all my clubs flex the same. They're all S300s or 6.0". Not true. The PW shaft is stiffer than the 4-iron shaft after you are done butt trimming it. But "flat line frequency" technology makes it so all the shafts flex the same. It's not worth the price of admission...trust me. Your game will not improve enough to justify paying $1800 for new shafts. And they won't tell you who makes the shaft because the shafts are of very poor quality. If you take the grip off the graphite shafts, you will see they are made in Korea. The steel shafts they use brake very easily, so if you have a temper and like to slam clubs after a bad shot, be prepared to spend spend spend. They don't use launch monitors so you can't see if you are actually hitting the ball better. It's based totally on feel. Lastly, I had the frequencies independently checked and none of them matched. Every club is supposed to have the same CPM number, but mine don't. Stay away! 

there is a range fitting. they have nine 9 irons (each with a different frequency), nine 5 irons, and nine drivers. at some point, the frequency that feels best with the 9 iron will match the 5 iron and driver. You hit until you find the frequency that produces the desired ball flight. but there is no launch monitor. and i don't care what anyone's handicap is, good golfers will do anything within in the rules to get what they might think is an advantage.

in regards to club champion, they do a standard fitting, not "flat line frequency" fitting. i'm sure club champion is great. but the one has nothing to do with the other. club champion will fit you with tapper tipped shafts. Surestix and "flat line frequency" uses parallel tipped shafts. do you know the difference?

as far as breaking clubs, no one has ever hit a bad shot and slammed their club into the ground out of frustration? i can tell you after playing golf for 20 years, the last 10 using project x shafts, i have never broken a club from slamming it into the ground until i got these shafts. i've broken clubs over my knee and against trees but never from slamming it into the ground. so far out of this set, 2 shafts have bent. 

Listen...I'm just offering a word of caution about these shafts and this fitting. this company says all your shafts will operate with the same frequency. mine do not and i'm having a heck of a time trying to get my money back. 

i wouldn't expect a $100 steel shaft to break so easily. I've never in my life had a problem with DGs or PX. Throw'em, Slam'em just the same and they didn't break. Before the surestix shafts, the only time a shaft broke in my hands was against a tree or over my knee. and don't tell me none of you have ever hit a ball in the water on a par 3, and then standing there, slammed the club into the ground out of frustration.... 

bottom line...

if you get fitted with "flat line frequency" shafts meaning your shafts will operate on one frequency (ie 290), not a sliding scale like most shafts, get em checked a few months later. guarantee they are no longer that one number. this is not to be confused with frequency matched. if you have 6.0 PX shafts, your PW shaft is slightly stiffer than your 3-iron shaft. "flat line frequency" corrects this giving all clubs the same flex. 

Suggestions needed, maybe a lawyer

after 6 months playing with a set of shafts that are advertised as "one number" meaning the frequency is the same from club to club through the entire set, i found out my set is not as advertised. i have requested a refund and the company that assembled the clubs refused my request. they offered to fix the clubs but i have already played with them for 6 months and they would literally have to redo every club. i paid $1850. how do i get my money back? any lawyers out there in the chicago area? i can get you and 2 others on kemper, olympia, bob o link, maybe medina, no charge at the glen.
