Before pulling the trigger on these set of Ping clubs, I would like to know what other people on the forum are thinking of these irons... I've hit them and love them but just wondering if I should venture towards the s56 instead!? Any suggestions gladly received!

Actually just finishing up a review on these.  If you're a fan of the i15's, these are an excellent upgrade, similar to the Anser irons.  They are going to go higher and farther than the S56's.  Biggest difference in the S56's is the way the club looks behind the ball.

The sole weighting on those clubs looks like it would send it pretty high.

Yes for the long irons but the set is progressive. Geometry of the cavity changes from long to mid to short irons to allow greater trajectory options.  Haven't hit any balloon shots :)

For future reference, this forum is for discussing golf courses and architecture.  You might get more responses if you post this in the appropriate forum.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I was wondering if these would be any good for someone with my handicap (20) ? I have the Mizuno JPX 800's but I really like the look of these. When I got fitted the pro told me to stay away from these because they weren't that forgiving. I was just wondering what your opinions were on whether I should sell my current set and get these? I have always loved the feel of Ping clubs I just don't like the fact that the G20's have such a wide sole that is the only reason why I didn't purchase those. Any feedback is welcome.

Driver: Ping G20 10.5*

Hybrid: Ping G20 20*

Irons: Ping G15 4-AW

Wedges: CG 14 56*, CG 16 52*

Putter: Odyssey Rossie

Ball: Undecided

G20's are going to offer max forgiveness on off center hits.  Go ahead and hit the i20's and see what you think, they look similar to you Mizuno's but more compact and less offset.

Thanks for the help maybe I will just stick with the mizzys. The 800's offer great forgiveness and coming from a cheap set of Adams (insight xtd II's), I think even the i20's will give me more forgiveness than those. Idk I will just go try em out when I go to this ball fitting tomorrow and see if I like em.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
