One of my main rules is proper/quality practice. I have a slice that I hate and refuse to play it incorrectly. Tips/info is GREATLY appreciated. How to swing and hit the driver? Address? Stance-posture? width of feet in reference to shoulders? distance of feet from ball ? angle of back ? Angle of backswing threw the finish? Thank you

Address, for me just the normal set up is fine, i play the ball like two ball widths off my front foot, to off the inside of my front foot...

stance-posture, same as any other full swing shot.

Width of feet, i think my shoulders hit the center of my feet to the outside of my feet. I don't like having a wide stance

Angle of the back, never paid attention

Distance from ball, what ever fits my set up

Angle of the backswing threw finish, i don't pay attention, never measured it.

For me, i just think of swing path. I try to invision my hands in the golf swing. I usually try to feel like i am pushing the palm of my right hand toward the target. I have horrible feeling in my left hand, so i can never trust that to get a flat and not flip. So i have to concentrate on maintaining the angle in my right hand. Usually when i nail the backswing feeling i like, i just tear through the ball really pushing that angle. I know i fully released when my body recoils from the rotation. A good visual is think of the finish, because there are very few ways to get there. When i was looking at Rory's swing i noticed he finished with his club in the same position, so i just invision that, and it really helps me not think of impact, and just lets the club do the work.

Try to use an inside to out swing. Take it back behind you more, with a flatter swing path.

Also make sure your left wrist isn't cupped. It should be straight with the arm and shaft. I had this problem for years and years. Finally figured it out last year.

Stay behind the ball at impact. You head should be just slightly behind the ball. And let the club release at impact.

Agreed.  Try and hit the inside of the back of the ball.

What really cured my slice a few years ago is what some others have said already......hit the inside of the ball.

I also would encourage you to video tape your swing....I did not think it was coming over the top until I saw a video. It's the only way you can be sure. In the video you can trace your club path.

I can't tell you how to cure it, but I can share what has "helped" me with mine.

As people talk about setup, posture, angles, etc, it was hard for me to know when my swing was breaking down.

For me, I step about an extra foot wide of normal stance.  I feel like I'm more upright than my normal shot.  I play off my front heel and make sure my right arm (I'm RH) isn't way above my left at address (I setup with LH and bring RH to grip rather than just waking up - that was amazing to see that difference).  When I take away, I focus on keeping it low and slow and making sure to turn and not sway.  If I do it right, I feel all the loading on my right side.  For me, it hasn't always been from OTT.  Many times, I justn ever gave myself a chance.

If I can do most of my basics of setup and backswing, now if I miss it's more of a fade - which I'm fine with...for now.

So, that is where I am with mine and it's helped.

Slices suck.

I have come through the thick and thin of slicing the heck out of the ball so I will tell you what has totally cured me.

- Stance. Ball just inside my front foot.

- Feet just wider than my shoulders

- Takeaway. If you are a righty, you need to keep your right palm facing the ground. Keep the face closed. Keep it facing the ground on takeaway.

- Nowadays, I have stopped looking at the ball. For driver, I pick a spot quite a bit ahead of the ball, and to the right of it. Just stare at that spot and make sure you sing over it. This will ensure your club has an in to out path. I can't tell you how awesome this has worked for me. Insane penetrating flight and slices have disappeared.

- You can also try making sure that you finish your swing. Feel as though you want to get your back facing your target at the end of the swing. Don't just cast the club and only complete half a turn. Get through the ball and all the way round.

I am pretty much 99% sure if you do those things you will stop slicing off the tee. Let us know how it goes and good luck.

My slice was fixed instantly with changing the grip. Try making your grip a little stronger until you get the desired shot.

That's a good swing thought and I'm going to try it along with the idea of hitting the inside-back of the ball.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I hear that golf can be fun when you play from the fairway.

To get the more "in to out" swing path (assuming you're coming over the top) I'd suggest feeling like you're taking the club way to the outside on your back swing then dropping the club back down into "the slot" on the downswing. If you feel like you're coming more inside on the back to make a flatter swing you may end up coming even more over the top.

My driver gets bad when I over swing on my backswing. I give it everything I have on the downswing, but need to limit the way back. I feel like my backswing is somewhere around 60%.
