Going from 'veteran' to 'old' happens real quick in this league; like in one offseason. What Pitts has done better than any other team is draft well & let players go before they start declining due to well, drafting well. They've had players waiting in the wings ready to step in & not miss a beat. I don't see that continuity now. Who's stepping in for Polamalu? Ben? Mendenhall? 

 

In the meantime, in the past couple of years the Browns have had good drafts - Haden, Ward, Richardson, Schwartz, Taylor, Weeden, Gordon, Little. They're the 2nd-youngest team in the league.

 

Basically, you have two lines on a graph that are moving in opposite directions. It's just a matter of time before they intersect. 

As a Browns fan I'm not sold on Little or Weeden.  And I think we need another HB as it is only a matter of time before Richardson is gimping around the way he runs.  The Browns could use another LB and Safety too.

Seen Hardesty run lately? He's more than capable of spelling TR.

 

Re Weeden, I think he's done pretty well for a rookie. Yeah I know he's 29. He's still a rook. Last check he had 12 TD/13 INT. He's got the arm.

 

Re Little, he's seem to come around lately. Last year (his first football of any type in 2 years) he dropped way too many passes, and he started this year doing the same. But over the past month or so he's been hanging on to them & even making some nice acrobatic grabs.

 

We definitely need a Safety. And a CB. And an OLB. Look for the coming draft to be defense-intensive. Offense is pretty much good to go.

Chip Kelly would bring a fresh offensive approach to the Browns.

Screw Chip Kelly. I hear he tried to extort Jimmy Haslam for outrageous jack. Also hear he's ambivalent about leaving Oregon. Then don't.

Who is going to be the GM?! I don't understand why owners do this. Hire a GM, then a HC.

That's how they did it last time - Heckert then Shurmur. But with Banner on board, he said he & the HC will conduct the draft. In other words, the GM will basically be a glorified scout.
