Can someone please explain to me why tiger cant or hasnt switched back to his scotty cameron? Obviously he has many gaps in his game right now but why not put his most successfull putter back in the bag?

Loyalty to Nike probably plays a part. The fact that his putting stats with different putters (the Scotty, and both Nike models he has played) are probably identical over the past few years plays another part.

the majors were not because of that model putter.  He could have putted with a butter knife and still did it. Like previously said he has been putting poorly with every putter.

If Tiger stuck with an Anser 2 he would have won just as much. It is all indian and not arrow

Switching putters is a bad sign. It's like blood in shark infested waters. If he actually switched again, it would be a pretty big red flag. Same reason he doesn't use a belly putter; maybe it would help his game, but he doesn't want to admit or show that he's struggling if possible.

That, and he's getting paid more to play Nike clubs than he could win in any tournament.

Tiger is stubborn about his putting, at least according to HH.  He doesn't care what anyone else tells him, even if it might help.

Maybe a caveat:  it's frequently reported that he seeks out Steve Stricker for putting tips--any evidence that Tiger actually implements anything Stricker tells him?

Not true. I think that's been proven several times. Foley and he have looked at tape. He's worked with Marius F. Stricker's helped him. Etc.

Tiger is stubborn with his putting, people chastise him. Tiger changes his chipping/pitching, people chastise him. He can't win. (Except at Bay Hill.)

I think that HH knows more about Tiger's attitude towards receiving putting advice than you do Erik.  I don't think it's even close.

you guys seriously think Tiger is naive enough to think switching putter will solve his problems ?

Just because we hackers wanna throw our clubs in the water after a poor round doesn't mean tiger will do the same.

He has putted great with both putters in the past. He seems to have retired the Scotty for good so he either prefers the Nike (sorry Titleist fans) or he committed contractually to play only Nike clubs.

Either way I don't think it matters.

Because unlike the majority of weekend golfers who are interested in golf equipment and not golf, he knows that it is the person doing the putting, not the putter that makes a difference.

Anyone who think sthat that putter won him a single event is very foolish. He's moved on to something which at the moment is better for him - and probably exact in every measurement to his previous putter, which was very much like his Ping Anser.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Exactly.  It's ridiculous.

The Nike putter is probably setup exactly like the Scotty in all aspects.  Toe hang, length, weight, etc etc.  The only difference with the Nike putter is the face which has an insert and groves to get the ball rolling with top spin faster.  Getting the ball rolling faster is a positive not a negative and the insert isn't overly soft so that isn't a big difference either.

Tiger knows he's the issue, not the putter.

He needs to just go back to the woodshed.      Enough coaching already - he's in coaching overdose mode & IMO, relies too much on them.     He's Tiger F'n Woods - he knows what swing & putting changes he needs to make, he just needs practice to implement them - I would HATE to have a coach over my shoulder at every practice session ...

This is what I tend to think as well. But we cannot know the true benefits (nor the risks ...) to TW of coaching at this stage in his life, esp. as he is reworking his game. Clearly he believes that there is benefit - who are we to say otherwise? Why, bloggers of course ....:-) I agree with Sir Nick. It's "in the noodle", not in the swing. A difficult thing to coach, that.

Um, I was citing HH's conclusion about how Tiger's stubbornness, which is explained and supported in great detail in his book.  And I followed it up with a reference to Tiger actually seeking help with his putting.

The actual putter being different has nothing to do with it.  I could argue for the Nike vs. Titleist irons/woods and balls though, there is a difference imho.

$$$ talks when it comes to what clubs pros play.  Nike doesn't make bad stuff by any means, but I refuse to buy anything they make golf related.

The best thing he can do for his game now is realize that he's screwed up his family life and image already, and go find whatever ho he was cheating with when he was winning all the time and run back and beg for more.

Sounds ludicrous, but I think if he went ahead and fully indulges in that again, he WILL win more.
