I had been meaning to replace my current old set of Titleist DCI Oversized+ irons and was planning on getting fitted in a month or so.  Today I came across a great deal on a new set of Cleveland CG16's in the Black Pearl finish and couldn't pass it up.

Since I ordered online rather than buying from a local pro shop, should I still be able to get fitted for them?  Are the shaft lengths all they adjust when fitting a player for clubs?

You said, finding a great deal online. I hope you purchased from an authorized Cleveland online retailer. There are so many fakes out there, it's not even funny.

And yes, you just take your irons to your local pro shop that sells Cleveland, and they should be able to fit you just fine. (For a fee of course).

Thanks for the reply.  I'll take them out for a round or two next week and see if they even need adjusted.

I got ordered from GolfDiscount.com.

They have an instant rebate marking them down to $424 and there is a sale they are doing right now for another 15% off.  I wasn't sure if the rebate and discount would stack but they did.  Also free shipping so after everything the total bill was $360.40.

I hit the same irons last weekend at Dick's Sporting goods and almost bought from them for $499.  Glad I waited.

Just got rid of these, didn't like them at all, hope they work out for you.  I liked the shorter irons, but struggled with the 4-7.  Maybe it was the stronger lofts, thought they looked like bricks to be honest with you.  For such a wide sole, they didn't seem all that forgiving to me especially 4-7.

I recently got fitted for MP 59's from Mizuno, a supposedly harder iron to play then the 16's, it wasn't for me, quite the opposite actually.  You pay a little more, but looks, feel and surprisingly forgiving for a club that isn't quite a blade but definitely looks like one; glad I made the switch.

That is unreal. I took out some MP59s and for grins grabbed a CG16. I've played forged clubs forever(KZG ZOs) and thought I'd like the Mizunos. I did like them except high hits on the club face met with huge loss of distance. Tried the CG16 and like it immediately. Ordered a set. Will let you know how it goes.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
