It all started with the 3 Wood.....

So, I began this season with the idea i was going to work with the equipment I had and not purchase anything this year.  I walked into my local pro shop and saw a G15 3w for $160 and thought "Right now my set goes from driver to 3h, I need to fill that gap", spoke with the pro and he gave me the 3w for $100.  Shortly after that I began to look for new irons as I knew my swing was getting better and I grew tired of the G10s, so I began my search and bounced around from one set to the next, just trying a few out.  I eventually stumbled upon the Callaway Razr X Forged, and they now rest in my bag.  Now, who am I to have the gual to place brand new irons in a 15 yr old bag?  Well, my Ogio Vapor stand bag is on the way, lol.

Now, why stop now?  I'm looking for a heavier shaft to put in my G10 3w and G10 Driver, this is the reason for the thread.  As of now, its the stock stiff that comes with it and frankly it feels way too whippy.  I love my ust proforce v2 76g thats in my 905r driver and I'm thinking about putting that in my G10 Driver.  Anybody have experience with this set up?  Regarding the 3w, I have no idea what to put in it.  I know I want at least 76g, stiff, that has a low kick point so the ball gets up and lands soft.  Do you folks have any recommendations for good shafts in the 3w?

On a side note, how much would you take if you where selling your G10 5-PW?  I have been searching ebay to see the market prices, but I really dont see much movement in these clubs nowadays.

Supply side vs. demand side economics?

Low demand = low prices.

I don't think you can recoup your investment on your new bag let alone any of the new clubs you bought, but, that's not the point.

Point is - you got a smokin' hot new set of clubs and a bag...party like a big boy...this is the American dream.

Next, you will be shooting in the low 60's ..... d2_doh.gif or not.

I started out the year not even thinking of buying new clubs. Then I realized through my program I can get a good deal on Titleist equipment and I had been thinking about getting AP2s so after some long deliberation I got the AP2s and a 56 and 60 vokey because my current wedges were at least 4 years old. Then I try out my friends 910F fairway wood thinking I loved my 5 year old Taylormade R7 but boy did I love the 910F much more. Then I was playing golf with my boss and noticed I wasn't getting the most out of my drives so he said we should put me on Trackman and find me a new driver. Turns out the 910 D2 10.5 set at D4 with a stiff shaft literally gives me 10-15 yards more carry because of the increased loft mostly.

So now the only clubs that are left are my Ping G10 21* hybrid and my Ping D66 putter. Tried the Titleist 910H but really didn't see it performing any better than my Ping. Also figured I'd try out a Scotty Newport 2 because I liked the way it looked. Putted with it and as it turns out I'm really not a fan. I've yet to find a better putter than my Ping D66 so I think it's going to be in my bag for a long time as well as my new irons, driver, and fairway wood.

The G10 has been bypassed by other Ultra GI iron sets. Plus, the G10 stock shaft was high launch, and ballooned the shorter irons for even some people seeking forgiveness. Any chance you could trade them in for store credit for the reshaft?

True that! I hit those things so freaking high and when I tested the frequency on 'em it was pretty awful.

Still Loving the Callaways and not regretting selling the G10s one iota!

Hah, funny how it works out that way... Started the year with G5 black dots, couldn't break the habit of skidding the heel of the club, went to G2 orange dots. First round with them this weekend, felt much better, wasn't hitting through the center half of the ball and was able to get long irons up way better. Add in the slightly thinner sole of the G2 and I can work the ball a little more side to side. Added a Fatso Super Grip to putter this weekend as well. Switched out my G15 U and S wedge for Cleveland 585 53 and 56. Went back to an I3 12 degree 3 wood from the Mizuno I had. Also dropped in the old Sonartec hybrid replacing the Callaway Razr Tour 3 I got last year. Pretty much the only thing left alone is my Rapture 9 degree driver.... but man do I want the new i20...
