A couple of weeks ago i bought a new set of AP1 and was fitted at Golfsmith. I ended up getting standard length, S300, and 2^ upright. My previous set was DCI Gold's. I have played only two rounds with my new set so maybe i'm over reacting but i am hitting about 5-10 yrds shorter than my DCI and the new AP1's lofts are about 3^ stronger. My question is did i get fitted incorrectly or does it just take time to grow accustom to the new irons. Thanks for you help.

Were your old irons adjusted to be the same lie angle? If not that could be one reason and may take some time getting use to them.

I have been wondering the same question. I just had a fitting and have not received my clubs yet. The only thing that makes me wonder about your fitting is this...when I did my fitting, I hit many clubs with many adjustments. Once we got the adjustments right my launch numbers were awesome and my ball was flying better and more distance because the launch conditions were optimal. Everything suited my swing, so no swing adjustment is needed, cause they were adjusted to my swing. I would suggest getting fit on a launch monitor. It will give exact. I don't think you should be having to adjust with fitted clubs

its the new irons......I went from titleist MB710's with DGx100's to Miura 1957's with kbs tour shafts......I took me a few rounds to adjust and get back to normal distances....I was 10 yards shorter for about 6 rounds........if anything, have your new gear checked against your old gear......remember, there is no industry standard for length, loft and lie

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
