I am looking for some advice for a new gap wedge. I am currently using a Cleveland CG11 Black Pearl (52d). I can't hit this club well at all. On a full swing, I hit this club about 75yds, while I hit my 56d Titlesit Vokey Spin-Milled at least 80yds.

I am left-handed so my options are somewhat limited. My PW is 45d, so I am looking for a gap wedge with between 50 - 52d of loft. So far, I have considered several options:

1. Buy the AW that matches my Big Bertha irons. This is a 50d wedge and is much cheaper than buying a Titleist or Cleveland. I think it would be good for shots from between 80-100 yards, but I doubt it will have much finesse around the greens.

2. Buy the 52d CG10 from Cleveland (52d). These are on sale right now with Golfsmith for like $90.00 which is a good price. However, I'm concerned that I may have the same trouble hitting this as I do with my CG11.

3. Buy a 50d Titleist Vokey 200 Series. If this club is anything like my spin-milled sandwedge, I will love it. However, the price is a bit steep ($135)

4. I have also looked at the Callaway X-Tour wedges and the Cleveland 588, but I don't know much about them.

Any thoughts on all of this would be greatly appreciated.

I went with the Vokey 50° with to go with my SM 56°. I had CG10s before and switched because I had trouble with full shots. I love my 50°.

I just ordered the Callaway X-Tour wedges. You can totally customize the clubs right of their site which is nice if you know your specs. I got them after reading a review on here. Click Here for review

They did have i believe a 50 and 52 wedge for lefties there.

Well, let me ask you this. What would you use it for? Would you chip with it or just hit full shots with it to cover the gap between you PW and SW? If you don't plan on using it around the greens then I'd say get the AW to match your set. If you like to chip with it then you are right, you aren't going to get much touch with a Big Bertha AW. If you like your SM 56 Vokey then why don't you get a Vokey Gap wedge too? That seems to be the logical choice to me.

Also, I have hit many Cleveland wedges and if you don't like the CG11 on full shots I'm not sure you'd like the CG10. Obviously I'm just speculating but the small cavity on the CG11 is suppose help on full shots (whereas the CG10 would be the superior wedge around the green).

Thanks. I will probably end up getting the Titleist 50d. I definitely want to use the club for more than just full shots. I was enticed by the lower price of the Clevelands and the Big Bertha AW, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Thrdroc: I looked at the Callaway X-Tour, but they only make the 50d in RH. I am really leaning toward a 50d since my PW is 45d. A 52d wedge leave too much of a gap between clubs. Plus the cost is about the same as the Titleists and I know I already like the feel of the Titleist wedges.

I have the bb 04 irons that came with the 50 deg. gw. I am comfortable using this club with a full swing but do not chip with it. I chip with my 54 and 58 deg. wedges. Gl with your selection.
