I searched the forum and couldnt find my answer so i thought i would start a new thread. Sorry if this has been beat to death.

What is every ones opinion about where to place the ball in your stance with a 3 wood. Is it the same for off the deck vs off the tee box?

Do you use the same swing?

Ive been playing for a few years now and have really shyed away from playing with any sort of fairway wood if i could help it. But as the other aspects of my game improve i would like to work on things that im not as good at.

any advice would be great thanks

I have mine at about 1" inside left heel (I'm a righty) and I use the same swing whether off the turf or tee. I tee it low for a 3w off the tee in any case so there isn't a lot of difference.

Placement is the same ( about 3" inside of left heal) as is the swing..

I also tee it right down on the deck like the perfect lie

Mine is slightly further back in my stance, just so i hit the ball first rather than hit up on it like i try to do off the tee.

I tee it low, but probably play it just a tad more forward off the tee (just about at the inside of my heel) than off the deck (especially if I am trying to hit a high draw).

when using the same ball position on turf as on tee, I tend to top the ball. therefore I'd say to play the ball more backwords.

I tee it about a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch off the ground. I try to simulate a "fluffy" lie when tee'ing it up. Aside from that, it's the same swing.

I only hit my 3 wood good if Im playing a draw so I go middle of stance maybe a lil forward and tee it up about a half an inch. Off the deck I try to avoid at all costs haha.
