I just thought I'd share my findings. Yesterday I played a little 9 hole and played 3 balls.

Hole 1) 110 yard par 3 slight downhill green.

start off with nike. landed 5 yards past hole and sucked down to about 2 yards short.

Nxt tour about 6 yards past hole sucked down about 3 yards and left about a 3 yard birdie

Nxt tour s (this is where i get confused) 15 yards past hole with about 2 yards of back spin.

Shouldnt the nxt tour s have spun the most and gone the shortest? Maybe I deleftod it a little bit but i thought it was a good shot just not quite as high. This might also explain the lack of backspin.

Shouldnt the 20xi-x (nikes distance ball) have gone the farthest and spun the least?

Nxt tour im not gonna bash because it gave me the best results so cant complain :)

This is the only hole where I really compared the balls and had all 3 on the green to tell exactly but I do remember hitting the

nxt tour s the furthest at least one more time then I stopped paying so much attention. It also gave me my shortest drive on hole 2 where the nxt tour and 20xi-x both landed about 270 yards into the wind with a draw shot.

Same hole I played a fade with taylormade penta tp3 which went about 260 into the wind and the tour s only went like 210 into the wind. With the driver the tour s was the only ball that really started to balloon. Would you say the differences are cuz of inconsistency in my swing because I am still a 16ish handicap?

Just curious for some feedback as to what you all think. Different balls different results or different swing different results.

Maybe he's a 1.6 handicap?

But your results with the NXT Tour S is correct, it spins less, and is longer than the NXT Tour.

I would like to know how im a 16 handicap also. The other day I played the front 9 at a tough course at 5 over. then the beer kicked in a little and I shot 14 over on the back. I feel like I have a really strong game and the ability to be under a 10 handicap but I have been playing for a year in June so I am capable of making those good shots but I lack the consistency do to it on everyhole. Finding the fairway off the tee has been a big problem for me and I feel like I never get enough good Iron practice during a round so those have maybe added a few strokes. I feel like im also pretty good at scrambling. I practice chipping alot and can usually get up and down. Putting was giving me alot of trouble up until about a month ago but still occasionally pops its head out. But as far as this course goes well 110 yard is wedge and im really strong with those. The next hole where I drive I actually had 3 in the fairway and one pushed just a hair right didnt come back and was just inside the OB line. I have been working on my driver alot and I was quite surprised that I was 3 for 4 on that one. The reason my story really stopped after those 2 holes is because on hole 4 I hit about 3 balls OB 1 in the fairway and one in the rough.

And when I read  260 fade ...270 draw into the wind.........

Most of these balls are pretty much the same.

JUst use the one you like the feel of off the putter face.

But again, they're pretty similar there, too.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

And I never said next to the cup. I hit one about 15 yards past and the other 5 or 6 yards past.

LoL thats pretty close for three different golf balls is all I was saying. But ya I understand having those struggles appear big time and ruin rounds. But the way a HDCP is supposed to work is measure where you can play too, not your average score.

I have never worried too much about my handicap. I plug my scorecard into greenskeeper.org and that is what my "current handicap index" is. I dont play any tournaments or anything so I dont worry about it too much but even my best round is an 82 on a par 71 course rated at like 69

  • 1 month later...

I just played a round using an NXT Tour S (yellow). I'm a 12 Hdcp and have only played Pro-V's for the past 3 years. They do give up some "check" around the greens but go just as far off the Tee and actually seemed to fly a little higher on my Irons. I really like them and don't mind keeping the extra $17 bucks in my pocket either.

Jimdangles -- From my experience, I like the NXT Tour S as best bang for the buck out there.  But that's just me.

Also, if you're going to go over the limit for clubs in your bag, why not go all out?  Let's add a  64* wedge along with a strong 3 wood.

What's in the Bag:
Driver: Taylormade SLDR 12*
3-wood: Taylormade Burner 15*
Hybrid: Taylormade Burner 19*
Irons: Callaway XR

Wedges: Vokey 50*, 54*, 58*
Putter: Scotty Newport Studio

I'm not over the limit. I never actually carry my 4iron and I switch off between my 3iron and 24*hybrid which I sold a couple of days ago and just haven't updated it yet. But I'm not gonna write in my sig 3 & 5-p. I didn't imagine any body actually cared. Especially not enough to call me out on it. Maybe notice it but not count. I never carry 14. I accidentally had 15 in the other day and chose a club before the round I wasn't gonna use and stuck to it

Relax, Jim.  Was just messing with you.  Good luck with the ball search.  Like I said, really like the NXT Tour S combo of price and performance.
