Who has a bag with mixed wedges?

Right now I only have 1 wedge, a 56* and I definitely want more. I really want some Cobra Trusty Rusty's (51*, 55*, and 59*). I also really like mine now. Is it normal to have a mixed set of wedges? I don't really know anyone who does.

I used to play a 52, 56, 60 Vokey combo but for reasons unknown traded in the 52 and 60. Loved the 60 hated the 52. I now only play the 56 and really wish I had at least 2. ajst22 I really like the look of the Cobra TR, would do 53, 57 combo with some dg spinners on them. Might do it if the price comes down a bit.

Two years ago, I carried the Callaway X20 PW, a Cleveland 50* GW, and a Callaway XForged 56* SW. This mix basically got the job done, and despite the mix had very good overlapping yardage coverage.

An instructor at a club repair school I attended carried two 56* SWs made about three years apart. He uses the high bounce SW for bunkers, and low-bounce for a lob wedge.

Let's say you have a PW from your iron set, and a separate model for GW-SW-LW. The higher wedges can work together better as a coordinated set if they match.

In your case, look for the the CG14 CC model that came out a couple of years ago. These wedges have a black gel inset, and new conforming grooves (for most of us, who cares?).  This reissue didn't sell that well in the wake of the newly arrived CG15 and CG16 models, so Sports Authority, Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith often have them available. I have seen the CG14s for under $80.

If you could pick up a 52* (and if you do LW) a 60*, you would pretty well have a matched set.

If you do this, consider trimming the shafts on the 56* and 60* to get some half-inch separation in length They come stock with a quarter-inch shaft increment (or less) between wedge lofts, so yardage distance difference would be bunched up more than you think. Run this idea by your local clubsmith if you want.

Building on what jman said, the CG14s come with the TRAction wedge flex shaft, which functions pretty well the same as the Spinner (minus the nifty bend segment).

MY 52 and 60 are Vokeys, but my 56 is a Hogan Sure-Out. Not only does that club get me out of sand, it can be used to pitch from the fairway, and the mass of metal the clubhead is made of lets it cut through the thickest rough.

I play 3 Scratch wedges. My 51* and 60* are cast 8620's but my 56* is an older JLM forged model.

I like having the JLM in the bag because the head is heavier, and the leading edge is a bit flatter. I find it a bit better out of heavier rough.

I originally bought 3 8620's as a set, but dropped the 56* in favor of my old JLM SND for the sake of versatility.

I demo'd the 59* today and I liked it a lot. Normal retail is $119 which is a lot, but my proshop has a discount on all products for members so it is $109...but it is still a lot. I will probably stick it out with my PW and the 56* until the end of the year and wait for the TR price to come down.

I play a Mizuno MP R-12 52*, Tourstage MB-32 sand wedge and a Nike VR Pro 60* wedge and they get along just fine.  The clubs dont know that they arent all the same brand.

I game a 56 Cleveland and a 52 Vokey.  Like both for different reasons.  Eventually I will have to part with the Cleveland it is showing some wear

I use a Cleavland VAS lob wedge and a Adam's Tight lies  sand wedge and I don't plan on changing that anytime soon. Its how the club works for you not the name on it. In my book

We just aren't that good.  It really doesn't matter if they are different brands.  Right now I carry a 51 Mizuno MP, 56 x forged, 60 old vokey 200, and a x forged 64.  If the set up works for you and you feel confortable, that is all that matters.  99% of the time its the indian and not the arrow.

I play a VERY mixed set of 4 wedges that makes people's heads spin partially because they never heard of one of my clubs.

I LOVE my LW, but never found it even on the internet.  Actually got it at a liquidator years ago.

I also used to play a Cleveland CG 14 50* wedge, but gave it to my father (who was looking for a 50* wedge recently) when I got my new Burners.

If you do find the Mitsubisha club somewhere, give it a shot.

Not sure how someone older than 20 wouldn't have heard of Top Flite and TaylorMade is still making clubs I think. Maybe your Google searches are finding info on Mitsubishi cars. Try Mitsushiba - the golf company.

Thanks for the link.  Never was able to find it, which is weird.  And the club that makes peoples heads turn is the mitsubisha.  No one has heard of it.  The Top Flite just gets the look of "Really?  Top Flite?"  But hey, whatever works.
