What's the hottest weather you've ever golfed in? - Page 3

We used to play in the Army no matter what the weather.  I was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, so from high 30's and blustery in the winter to 110+ in the summer.  The fairways could get really baked, letting me once drive a 362 yard par-4. e2_whistling.gif  In Virginia we routinely play in the 90-100 range in the summer time with sweltering humidity.

I live out in the Palm Springs area so pretty damn hot... today wasn't bad at 103. I remember I got of the course once last year and the temperature was 120...

Walked 18 holes for a school golf tournament down here in South Florida a couple years ago. It was 98 degrees with 100% humidity. The heat index (what it felt like) was around 116.

Tough day. Only one person broke 80. On a team that usually shoots under par.

I was on a business trip in Vegas last year and decided to go to the Callaway golf center to hit the range and maybe play the 9 holes there in the early evening. It was 105 at 7 in the evening and after a bucket on the range, I decided to skip the 9 hole course and did something else.

How were the playing conditions... how was your play affected?

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Towards the end of the round I was a little exhausted so I was losing some yardage but other than that I was just drenched in sweat haha.

I just started golfing this year here in Las Vegas. It's get pretty hot, and this summer looks like a burner. I've already shot a few rounds in 100 plus and there will be lots more to come. Its really hot right now but I burned my hand and can't play this week. 106 was the hottest so far and my home course is on the east side, two degrees hotter. I dare it get 115 this year, I'll call into work sick, just to go golf in it e4_tumbleweed.gif. It should happen this year, maybe even hotter, and I'll golf in it lol. I'll repost when it happens.

I played in 115° F back in the late 1960s in St. Louis. One of the moms dropped four of us guys off at the old Forest Park golf course that morning. Plan was to play 18 and ride the bus back home.

We were out there carrying our bags, with no sun block and no hats on - hey, Nicklaus and Palmer wore no hats when they played. Hydration involved drinking from the water fountain every couple of holes (This was pre-Gator Aid)

As we finished the front nine, one of the guys complained how tired he was. The rest of us were dragging badly too. So, we called it quits and walked down to the bus stop and got on the bus to go home. Another passenger had his transistor radio on, and the announcer said it was 115 that day. Those words soothed our egos, bruised from wimping out on the back nine.

95+ with 80% Humidity.

It was stifling hot, so hot it was hard to get a deep breath. But my friend and I walked 18 holes of a rather hilly course and the guys at the counter gave us a pass for senior rates the next time we came. I guess they didn't think we could really do it.

Yeah. So's an oven.

But coincidentally I lived in Houston for one regrettable year in 1981-82, right before I moved to Florida and it's ballz hot there. Also played in Vegas in July when it was 113...but it didn't feel as hot as 95 in Houston, or Orlando for that matter (where I live now).

I was on vacation in Vegas summer of 2005 during a major heat wave for "them"...in the summer!!!!..............LOL

I played the old Vegas National when it was 122 degrees..........I'll be honest, it was no big deal.  I drank 2 gallons of water and was just fine.  It was hot.....we had a breeze and it felt like an oven...I drank enough liquid that  it was no big deal.

I once played 18 holes in 40°C (105°F) with two ladies and my shorts were wet from my ass to my crotch with white dried in salt lines. I was proud of myself.

Played 9 yesterday afternoon in 102*. The heat actually killed the battery in my smartphone. Had to cool the ph down in the fridge to get it to charge up and work again. It's not so much how it feels around you but the actual heat on your skin up here in Denver. At times it feels like being cooked. The altitude makes it pretty extreme.

Played yesterday here in san antonio, the guy in the pro shop said it was 103. We went directly after church and I forgot my hat so I have a sweet raccoon tan line on my face from my sunglasses.

The hottest day ever in Las Vegas was 117/118. There was never a 122° day on record in Las Vegas.  I golfed in 105 today, there is a chance of record breaking heat this year also. If it happens, I'll golf it.

2005 was the year that broke the record. It was July 19. 2005. 117/118.
