Went to the range last night.. been really working on my swing and posture to get consistency out of my game and accuracy.

Bought a 100 ball basket.. got about 10 into it.. and tried something I "learned" from this forum.. [the tip where you drive having your ball near your left foot (im right handed) and swing your hips toward the target point in your downswing on impact]

as I did this.. I really messed up my shoulder and I couldn't even get the ball 30yards.

I must have gotten tendons or something really tangled up or caught on part of my bone because I definitely had huge pain instantly..

Oddly, when I went back to swinging normally during my bucket, I was able to finish the 100 [and have great shots throughout and learn plenty].

Wake up this morning and it still feels pretty bad, located the pain exactly , if you grab the top of your left shoulder with your right hand at the top/end of the shoulders.. where your middle-finger/ring-finger touch.. is where the pain is. Hopefully you can find it.

I seem to still be able to swing.. but not sure its a recommended thing.

icyhot? or would that not be best for this injury.

planned on golfing today, but looks like i might have to hold out.

cant believe i tried a new swing without any practice, etc..

I would say it is probably a muscle strain which is like micro tears in your tendons/muscles. Since you can still swing its does not seem so bad yet but since there are tears then swinging more is probably not the best idea and could limit you from golfing even more down the road.

I would say for the first day or two just use ice if it feels hot or swollen. but icy hot is good after that. You probably want it to heal well before you golf again because it could make it worse and resting it is your best bet

After a bad tee shot it does not mean the hole is over, it means you have an opportunity to show what you are made of!

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
