How many of you have weeks where you just splurge and buy a whole bunch of golf crap.

That happened to me these past few days. It started on eBay. I bet on a few things (Scotty Cameron putter, Taylormade TP MC irons) and then I started looking at the Buy It Now stuff, and that's where it went downhill.

I ended up buying the following this week:

  • 3 Adams Idea Black Super Hybrids ( 15, 17 and 19 degrees )
  • Odyssey White Ice #1 putter.
  • R11 Driver - Stiff/9 degree.
  • Possibly those Taylormade TP MC irons if I win them haha

Just wondering if this ever happens to you. Im too impulsive haha.

Pretty much when it's nasty outside and I can't play... sh!t happens...

This year I started out with a 3 lesson package and a membership to an executive course near work. First lesson the instructor says my clubs are too upright. I had Ping G5 black dots, grabbed some G2 orange dots on ebay at a good price. When practicing I decided I didn't like my 3wood, the club face was huge I would sky the ball too often and found an inexpensive Ping i3 that's 12* and has a much smaller head (I love this club btw). I had g15 50 and 54 wedges, also black dot, when practicing again I thought the super fat soles were limiting shot shape ability. I now have an older pair of 53 and 56 588 wedges (the PW degree change from the g5 to g2 was 45-47 degrees I think, another justification for the wedge switch). I purchased a Callway Razr tour 3 hybrid last year after hitting a buddies non tour version, the more open face on the tour had me fading way too much, I switched to an older sonatec 19* I had laying around (now this may be my best club in the bag). At this point the only clubs I use are my Ping Rapture v2 driver and walmart putter (which I changed to a fatso grip). Oh and this past week I broke down and dropped $200 on a new Ping bag (nothing wrong with my other except I just was tired of seeing it). All of this started early March.

You guys too? I thought I was the only one! LOL

I went ape shiit this year.

In March I got a full set of irons. AP2 712s.

In April I got the 910D3 driver, and a new mid-staff bag.

In May I got the 910F & 910H. And the Scotty putter.

And last couple of weeks, I got 3 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of shorts, 4 shirts. Balls, gloves, tees.

Both Golf Galaxy and GolfSmith know me by name. I can't go in there anymore, it's too dangerous.

Driver: Callaway Big Bertha 10.5*

3WD:  Callaway Big Bertha 15* / X2 Hot H4 Hybrid
Irons:  Callaway Apex 4-PW Project X 5.5 shafts

Playing with as low as a handicap as you've got I'd imagine you're not changing much because you've spent tons of money and time in the past to get what fit and is right for you?

I spent years with the same set of cheapo clubs until last year when I decided I wanted to play more than 2-5 times a year and actually get better at the game. Making adjustments to my swing and learning a lot more about the technology behind clubs and such has lead me to make most changes recently. Lie angle on irons, bounce on wedges, grip comfort on putter, face angle on hybrid and 3wood. I'd imagine you went through a similar process at one time as well? Or are we just doing it wrong lol

I replace my woods/hybrids every few years to keep up with technology advances.  I've only purchased 2 sets of irons and 2 putters in the past 15yrs.
My most recent irons and putter are circa 2008'ish....I'm not even sure off the top of my head.  LOL

My wife has banned me from ebay.  The purchase streak started with me in early march with new irons.  In april I convinced my wife I needed a Adams super hybrid and a Nike driver.  When I got the new putter and new bag (because my old bag was red and my new clubs were blue) the law was laided down.

However, I was able to sneak by the purchase of two new voodoo shafts for my 4 and 5 hybrids.....

In my bag:

Driver: Covert Performance
Super Hybrid : :nike: 2H - 17* Covert Performance

Irons: :nike:Covert 4I - PW

Wedges: :nike:X3X Wedges (52*, 56*, 60*)

Putter: Method Core 1i

Ball: :nike:One RZN

Upgrading Always.

Geeez, Nike everything. You sound like me, but with Titleist.

Maybe Nike and Titleist owe us some sponser/advertising fees? I wonder what would happen if I sent them a bill for my fees? LOL

Ya that Ogio is nice, but you gotta have a Nike staff bag, to go with all that matching gear.

What about Hats, Shirts, Balls, Gloves? All Nike too?

This season's impulse purchases so far:

(used) Nike Forged Blades (use as my back-up irons)

(used) Mizuno MP-32 Blades

(used) Titleist 905r (use as my back-up driver)

(new) Vokey 56

(new) Vokey 60

I am a firm believer in pulling the trigger on a good deal when it comes along.  Even if I don't "need" the item at the time.  I can flip it, or use it in a trade down the road etc.  Obviously I can't (and don't) buy every good deal that comes along, but a few per season for sure.

Fairway Wood - Diablo Octane 15*
Hybrid -  Edge 21*
Irons - X20's 4I - 9I
Wedges - X20's PW/SW
Putter - White Ice 1
Ball - Warbird

Hats - Yes

Shirts - about 90% Nike (I  found a few cheap Polo ones from the outlets around here)

Balls - I play Pinnacles right now

Gloves - Yes

But I will say this, if I didnt like the VR_S line so much I would no doubt still be playing the Cleveland Mashie Hybrid, and my old Ping G15.

I buy stuff on a regular basis. Every year I get a new driver and at least one new set of wedges. I replace my irons every 2 or 3 years but always with a new set of Titleist blades. I buy a 3 wood every so often, and I get a new bag every couple of years as well.

I work at a golf course which can be dangerous if you don't watch out. The good thing is I pay less than half what retail is on most things.
