I'm glad to see them get into the adjustable market, finally... I love the look of the i20, and this thing looks just as good. Price will be out of my range and I'm just way too happy with my Rapture v2 still, I cannot see replacing it.

Oh damn. When is this club releasing? I was planning on getting a new driver and shaft for my b'day, and was up in the air between theTitleist 910 and the Nike VRS drivers. Now, this one is in the running if its not a 2013 release.

Edit: Mid August, I can wait. This is DEFINITELY in the running pending more info, in an 8.5* pls.

Half a degree is all you need. After if you need more, you should have bought another loft. If you need 10.5 degrees of loft, there is no need to buy a 9.5 degree driver and up the loft to 11 unless you don't want a driver that says 10.5 on the bottom. Not sure if that is the best approach or not  but I bet it is what ping is thinking. What I haven't read anyway is if you can adjust club face angle or lie angle independantly of the loft.

It's a bit weird to see a Ping adjustable driver.  They have traditionally been the company committed to proper fitting that it doesn't seem to mesh with their corporate philosophy.  A range of 1 degree is a minimal adjustment compared to others that give you a 2-3 degree range of adjustment, not sure how excited people will be about it.

Thats not the point, why come into the market with less adjustability than clubs by TM had 3 years ago. It just seems like too little, too late from ping.

I want to be able to go to the range and actually see the differences altering my clubhead makes.

From a fitting stand point it'll be nice to be able to switch out different shafts with the same head.

 913 D2 8.5* with V2 66g stiff shaft

910F 14.25 with Diamana stiff shaft

 i20 17, 20, and 23 hybrid

 AP2 712 5-PW with Dynamic Gold S300 shaft

 54 and 60

 D66

 Tournament Edition 1600

That's very true.  The driver is the only club in the bag that is a one-size-fits-all for every type of player at every skill level with every shot shape.

What's in my Micro Lite Bag:

Driver: RocketBallz Tour 9
3 Wood: V Steel 15 degree
3-PW: 762 DCIGW: CG 12 52 degree

SW/LW: spin milled 56/11, 60/7

Putter: 2 Ball 35"

That's just ridiculous - pros use them, why shouldnt amateurs use something to make the game a little easier?

I don't like adjustable drivers, but I agree with the post above about being able to swap shafts. That is the most important feature of this type of driver IMO. Being able to fit a shaft to a head in a matter of minutes is the fastest way to a good fit. That in conjunction with the minor tweaks in the head, and it should be adjustable enough for any knowledgable fitter. Ping knows that their fittings sell a ton of clubs, this will only boost their driver and aftermarket shaft sales.

Also, this club looks great. It shares quite a few lines with the G20, which can't be a bad thing. And it looks kinda mean, like a 910 or a I20. Second best looking adjustable, next to the 910 series.

No it isn't. If you were not fitted for a driver and shaft, you are doing it wrong.

The driver looks great but they should have given it more adjustability.  1/2 degree isn't enough.  My 2009 Nickent Evolver with the CYG hosel on my shafts gives loft lie,and face angle adjustments, with loft changes +/- 1.5 degrees, face angle +/- 3 degrees, and lie adjustment as well.  I would have thought that Ping would have done more with their first adjustable club.  This driver is the best I've ever owned, and making adjustments or changing shafts on the range before getting to the first tee can save me a few strokes.

I'm not buying any of the adjustable drivers out there.  Period.  Call me a stiff.  I just think we go too far with all of the equipment tweaks.  You adjust the driver because your slicing the ball.  Ok.  You adjust it again because now your drawing the ball.  Ok.  Maybe we should just start back to fundamentals and look at our grip/hands and swing.  Maybe read through a good Hogan book and simplify it to figure it out.  If you're slicing, hooking, whatever, you have something wrong going on.  Look, I didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest.  I love Ping, not knocking them and their new driver along with any others.  Technology is amazing out there today.  I just think all of this adjustable clubs is getting a little ridiculous now.  Whats next, bigger golf balls?  Adjustable irons?  I'm sorry.  I think we need to bring this back to basics.  I guess I'm just an old fart....

    • We do not buy extended warranties. We will use one of our credit cards for the purchase that extends the warranty "x 2". Our thoughts are: a. if the item is a lemon, it will likely break right away and we can attempt to apply the original warranty or credit card extension. b. over the long haul, we will probably save more money by not purchasing the extended warranty and fixing/junking broken items out of our own pocket. The important thing is to keep some records of purchases so one may make a claim under the manufacturer's warranty. I recently sent back some Footjoy shoes for leaking and Footjoy did a reat job of making the claim process work very well. I had the original receipt, warrant info and box. Easy peasy.
