I have been playing golf seriously now for about 3 years.  I am a high handicapier and shoot an average of about 55 for 9 holes and 115 - 120 for 18.  Today in my Monday night league I finally broke the 50 mark with a 48.  I was hitting the ball solidly and putting "straight lights out" as my buddy put it.  I only three putted once and sank several difficult puts to save par and bogey.  The two main highlights were I par'd two holes in a row and hit the pin with my 2nd shot on one hole from 191 yards out.  But the one thing I really am proud of was the way I bounced back from a bad hole.  I took a 8 on a par three but kept my chin up and made par on the next hole and finished with a bogey on a difficult final hole.  When I got into the club house after putting my clubs in my truck everyone in my league congratulated me on a well played round and really made me feel good (I am the last place man in the league and struggle a lot).  It is rounds like this that keep me going and want to get better.

Congrats, it feels good when all those range sessions start to pay off.

Lots of range time, putting at home, and reading.  One of the keys lately is I have been reading a lot of Dr. Bob Rotella.  Now that I am getting "mentally golf fit" my physical skills are coming through.

That's awesome that you didn't let a bad hole get to you. I have seen so many guys games go down hill after one bad hole.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
