I recently just started keeping track of my golf stats (Putts,GIR,Fairways,etc.). When I putt off the fringe I mark that as a putt in my stats, I was wondering what the proper ruling is or what you count the fringe as?.

I've been wondering this as well. I usually count it as a putt but I have no idea if that's the correct ruling.

I'm not going left or right of those trees, ok? I'm going over those trees...with a little draw.

http://golf.about.com/od/beginners/ss/markscorecard_3.htm This website says to only count shots taken on the putting surface, so I guess that according to this site that putts off the fringe should not count in your putts per round.

Correct.

Fringe is not a GIR......if you use putter from the fringe, it does not count as a putt for statistical reasons.

IE....if you hit a lot of fringes during a round......your GIR will suffer, but your putting stats will benefit.  It all evens out.....
