Temp has nothing to do with feel. The only thing that changes feel is the type of steel used, and the way it is cooled after forging. You want hard, you quench in water. Want middle hardness, you quench in oil, want a soft forging, you don't quench at all, you let it air cool. Simple enough for you? The temperature of the metal while it is being forged has absolutely nothing to do with feel.

Anyhow, thanks for the info... I'm just kinda reluctant to sell my Mizunos , but hey, I think I got enough feedback in this thread to make a decision.

You made all kinds of crazy claims, and none of them are ture. Im not trying to start a fight. I had a mod, who knows the type of industry my dad is in, ask me to come in here and straighten you guys out on the myths and truths of forging. You have spouted too many myths as fact, and you needed to be cut down.

And then talking about them being art, and needing a second set to collect... WOW... You started this thread begging for an arguement, and when you got it, you became upset. You don't get to pick and choose who enters your threads, so if you don't like being called out, dont make outlandish claims like you have in this thread.

And in the spirit of the thread, to the OP, yes, sell the Mizunos. In this era, unless they are truly rare and unused, clubs do not retain value. Enjoy your Miuras.

Sai-Jin, I like that you have a play set and a show set. No, your show set probably won't big huge bucks down the road, but to the right person, you may be able to get something. I collect Hogans and am always looking for sets that have matching serial numbers and original grips. I see un-hit sets of Hogans of ebay every once in a while. The people ask for far too much from them $1000 - $2500/set. I don't usually follow the auction to see if they actually sell. But like I said, there are probably collectors out there with money to burn. I'm a collector on a budget. I'll take the beat up ones.

As far as Miuras go. Those are some pretty clubs. And, as already mentioned, the Japanese know how to forge metal. Golf clubs as a work of art? Yeah.

Some Hogans are sought after and some are not. In my opinion it depends on 3 things. 1.) were they playable - were they a joy to have in the bag (e.g. 1988 Apex red lines)  2.) were they revolutionary (e.g. 1st generation Edges - not the wannabes with extra letters), 3.) are they susceptible to bag chatter thus making a mint condition set all the more rare (e.g. PCs),

And probably a 4th. Would Ben Hogan ever have put them in the bag. Some guys rave(d) about the Radials and such but I recall sets of Radial going for next to nothing because they were very much unHogan. Even the signature was all trademarky and wrong.

I have a set of miura that I would like to sell, pw through five iron. If you are interested let know and I can give you full details on who fit me.
