Okay just got back from Stockton about an hour ago, anyways I want to thank Mike and Jessie as well The Reserve at Spanos was expecting me and there were no hang ups getting started. The course lays on the outskirts of Stockton CA adjacent to a newer housing development across the street however there are no homes bordering this course +1. This is a flat course and is very walkable, there are a couple long walks between greens and the next tee but not ridiculous. The course appears fairly new but has a decent amount of moderate size trees for the amount of wind that hits this area. Did I say wind? Well living fairly close to this area and knowing what the summer months bring I was pleasantly lucky enough to get to play this course on a calm day, usually out in the CA delta region we have heavy winds from about noontime everyday during the summer months but fall is another story all together it's like someone turns a switch off from the first of october till mid december.Anyways the course itself I found in good condition for the amount of play it probably gets during the weekends, I played with a local that said it does get crowded and the weekends and can yield some long rounds however today we pretty much had the course to ourselves and were able to finish in a little more than 3 hours. The greens rolled smooth and had a good pace to them not extremely quick but fast enough for good players but not too fast to embarrass weekend warriors. For being a flat course it had just enough variety to keep every hole as a unique experience, the only downside I could think of was the drainage collection areas alongside the greens were sometimes so darn soggy that I only tried using my 58* once to get out and that was obviously after I chunked it in this low laying wet tight lie area after that it was bump and run only, but even this is something hard to really blame the course, one has to realize Stockton is probably only a few feet above sea level so keeping a dry course is gonna be a bit of a challenge and these were the only spots that were like that the rest of the course drained beautifully.Okay grass driving range nice clubhouse inside and out, friendly staff, unfortunately no beverage cart girl but they did have a notice to let us know so no harm no foul there just not enough patrons I guess, nice newer EZ go golf carts, easy to find location, reasonable rates online (think my playing partner paid less that $25). I would recommend this course, the conditions are more than adequate, just try to avoid wind if possible the online deals are an excellent value The Reserve at Spanos is a course that all skill levels can enjoy.
